A search is underway for Savannah Guthrie's mom.

The Today anchor confirmed that Nancy Guthrie, who resides in Arizona, has been reported missing.

"On behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers and messages of support," she said in a Feb. 2 statement obtained by Today. "Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear Nancy."

"We thank law enforcement for their hard work on this case," she noted, "and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff's Department."

Savannah was absent from the NBC morning show on Monday as the investigation continues.

Arizona authorities are searching for the 84-year-old after she was reported missing Feb. 1, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos shared in a press conference.

"You don't typically get the sheriff out at a scene like this, but it's very concerning what we're learning from the house," he told reporters. "This one stood out because of what was described to us at the scene and what we found and located just in looking at the scene."

Nancy was last seen by her family at her Tucson, Ariz., home at approximately 9:30 p.m. Jan. 31. They called 911 around noon the next day. Although the sheriff did not disclose what was found at the house, he confirmed that homicide detectives have been on the scene.

"It's not standard," Nanos admitted. "Typically, our homicide team comes out when we have a homicide, a body. This one was done simply because of what the surveyors were telling us."

"I hope we find her safe and sound," he emphasized, "but we cannot ignore what's in front of us."

As the investigation into Nancy's disappearance continues—in which officials have enlisted the help of surveyors, search-and-rescue dogs and air assets, including drones and helicopters—Nanos noted that she may have been exposed to cold overnight weather.

"Miss Guthrie is 84 years old and is not in good physical health," he explained. However, he added, "She has no cognitive issues at all—just some physical ailments that limit her ability to move around."
