Al Roker Reveals What He Really Thinks of Retiring After 30 Years on ‘Today’
It's cloudy with a chance of…billboards of Al Roker in New Jersey.
After all, Today co-host Carson Daly revealed that there is a billboard honoring the beloved weatherman in the Garden State.
"This was sent in to us," Carson explained on the Feb. 27 episode of Today alongside the billboard. "This is an actual billboard spotted in New Jersey on Route 17 just last night, and it reads: 'THINGS WE ALL AGREE ON: AL ROKER.'"
While Al's colleagues Craig Melvin and Hoda Kotb were amused by the sign—which is a simple black screen with white text—they aren't so sure where it came from.
"We don't know what that is, who put it up," which he explained, while Hoda teased, "We're investigating."
But when it came to the tribute, Al was humble as ever.
"I've never seen that," he admitted. "But the second part of that is '...is a real jerk.'"
But it's especially surprising since the 71-year-old doesn't know anyone in that area—and his only connection is a restaurant nearby. As he explained, "I still always love the Tick Tock diner off Route 3."
Nonetheless, the Today family knows that, although they aren't responsible for the billboard, it's not wrong.
"I thought it was nice, though, because the sentiment is right," Carson added. "It's a crazy world right now, but you're sort of at the epicenter of calm."
Meanwhile, Al quipped, "That tells you how bad things are!"
Despite the journalist's self-deprecating jokes, he has continued to be a beloved member of the NBC show for the team and fans. When a blizzard hit New York City days prior, he documented their show's makeshift sleepover with a smile.
"Here we go, off to work," Al said in a Feb. 22 video on Instagram. "Getting ready for the big blizzard of 2026. Ten years since we've had a blizzard in New York City, so we're going to see what happens with this one, but we're going in early because they're shutting down the New York City streets."
As he put it, "We're going to have a little sleepover, all the folks at the Today show—it'll be fun."
