In brief: Sanwa Supply has introduced a pair of clever new wireless mice that could help declutter your mobile setup by integrating HDMI output and a USB-C hub integrated directly into the receiver.

Modern ultrabooks and tablets are notorious for their lack of ports – you're lucky to get more than a couple of USB-C ports these days. This often means lugging around a collection of dongles and docking stations just to connect displays, hard drives, or other peripherals. Enter Sanwa Supply, with a response that says, "Hold my mouse."

The mice, officially named the 400-MAWBT209BK and 400-MAWBT209BK2, look fairly standard at first glance. However, their miniature USB-C receivers are packed with connectivity features typically found in separate docking stations.

Let's start with video output. As highlighted by PC Watch, the tiny receivers feature a full-size HDMI port, allowing you to connect an external 4K monitor at 60Hz.

The USB-C port on the receiver also functions as a USB hub, letting you attach peripherals like keyboards, game controllers, hard drives, and more. It supports USB 3.2 Gen 1 speeds of up to 5Gbps, ensuring fast data transfers.

Then there's charging. The USB-C connection provides up to 100W of Power Delivery, with 90W available for your laptop or other devices after the 10W required by the mouse itself. The setup could potentially eliminate the need for all your laptop's other power and video cables.

The mice cover the basics as well. They feature a respectable 1600 DPI optical sensor, five buttons, and a rechargeable battery that lasts several hours between charges. Connectivity options include Bluetooth and 2.4GHz wireless. The compact design measures just 61 x 121 x 38 mm and weighs under an ounce.

When it's time to pack up, the USB-C receiver tucks neatly into the underside of the mouse for easy travel.

The only potential drawback is that Sanwa warns the fast USB 3.2 speeds may interfere with the 2.4GHz wireless connection in some cases. However, you can always switch to Bluetooth mode if needed.

Sanwa is currently pricing the mice at ¥5,980 (just under $40) on Amazon Japan. The 400-MAWBT209BK sports a black and silver color scheme, while the 400-MAWBT209BK2 features black and blue accents. Unfortunately, there's no word yet on if or when these devices will be available outside Japan.
