The 52-year-old was sporting a new hairstyle with bangs when at the film festival.
Tunney is in the new indie feature, titled By Design, starring Juliette Lewis and Mamoudou Athie.
'Amanda Kramer resurrected my indie film career from the dead and I got to work with the most incredible group artists in front of and behind the camera,' she wrote on Instagram while making the announcement.
She continued: 'Thank you @listentosilk @juliettelewis @samantham01 @smudgystuff @mirandambailey for helping me fall back in love with what I do. I cannot wait for all of you to feast your eyes on what we made together.'
Lewis and Athie lead the cast of the body swap film By Design.
The pair are on board to play the central roles in the indie flick that has been written and directed by Amanda Kramer.
Other cast members in the movie – which has wrapped production in Los Angeles – including Samantha Mathis, Tunney, Clifton Collins Jr., Udo Kier and Betty Buckley.
Plot details haven't been disclosed but the picture is described as a twist on the body swap genre.

Juliette began her film career in the late 1980s.
She feels lucky to have worked together with some of the most talented figures in the industry.
The 51-year-old star told Entertainment Tonight: 'I really got fortunate early on. And I didn't know this at the time because people would say after Cape Fear and I don't know, Natural Born Killers, they're like, 'You're gonna be so spoiled.'
'Because I worked with these really phenomenal directors. I was like, What? It's not just always like this?'

'And they treated me like my ideas were valid, so I was always welcome to create and create strongly. That developed a real, if we're talking about creative, survival. It developed a big muscle of adventure and trying things creatively that I use to this day.'
The Chicago native is currently engaged to Nicky Marmet, the father of her two children.
The couple, who got engaged on Christmas Day in 2012 while on vacation in Rio de Janeiro, welcomed their first child together named Oscar in June 2016.
In 2020, she gave birth to their daughter, Colette Kathleen.
Robin previously married director Bob Gosse, 57, in 1995, but they separated in late 2002 and divorced in 2006.
She also was engaged to Australian writer and director Andrew Dominik, 52, from 2009 to 2010.
