Their body language says it all! Married At First Sight groom Tyson and his bikini-clad bride Steph barely look at each other as they hit the beach together on day off from filming

Controversial Married At First Sight couple Tyson Gordon and Stephanie Marshall have struggled in the experiment from the start.

But the pair tried to recharge their faltering relationship with a bit of downtime away from the cameras during filming. 

In exclusive photos, the troubled pair spent a day at the beach, but the attempt at a bit of bonding under the sun appeared to fall flat.

Witnesses say that the newlyweds hardly said a word to each other, with Tyson eventually escaping the awkward mood by taking a solo swim.

For her day out at the beach, Stephanie, 32, wore a flattering pink two-piece bikini.

Accessorising with a fitness watch and designer eyewear, Stephanie did not venture into the water at all, preferring to sunbathe.

Meanwhile, Tyson, 30, flaunted his trim physique in a pair of striped board shorts.

Accessorising with a pair of black sunglasses, Tyson used a baseball cap for sun protection and carried his belongings in a KSCY gym duffel bag. 

It comes after the couple got into some nasty bickering on Tuesday night when the 'anti-woke' groom dropped a bombshell that left his TV wife reeling.

What was meant to be a romantic outdoor date quickly turned into a love triangle nightmare when Tyson admitted he is still in contact with his ex-girlfriend, and hinted the spark might not be entirely gone.

Things escalated when Steph asked if he'd spoken to his ex since joining MAFS and was stunned when Tyson confessed he had.

'I have, yeah. I've got nothing to hide,' Tyson admitted.

The tension only thickened when Tyson revealed his ex might still have romantic feelings for him - and he suggested it was mutual.

'I won't lie to you, we still talk quite a lot. She wasn't just my partner, she was my best friend as well. We're friends, nothing wrong with that,' Tyson said.

'To be honest, I am not fully [out of love with her]. But I am not comparing you to her, at all.'

Stephanie was left fuming by Tyson's shock admission, calling his behaviour 'disrespectful' before storming off.

She later vented to producers that she did not feel comfortable with Tyson continuing to speak to his ex-girlfriend while he was on the show.

'The fact that he is still in contact with her just feels wrong,' Steph said.

However, Tyson later attempted a peace offering, apologising for hurting Steph's feelings and promising no more ex-contact for the rest of the experiment.

His TV wife thanked him for the decision, agreeing to give their relationship another shot.

Tyson also doubled down on his controversial 'anti-woke' views during Sunday night's bombshell episode, shocking his bride and the series experts in the process.

However, Steph was having none of it and bluntly told Tyson that any relationship challenges they were facing had nothing to do with her gender.

'I don't think it has anything to do with being a female. I feel I meet Tyson's requirements, I'm goal-driven, ambitious, a family girl, I feel like I tick a lot of those boxes. But he doesn't like any of that... It's too masculine!' Steph retorted.
