The Witcher 4 is among the most highly anticipated open-world RPGs to be revealed in recent memory, and players have been losing their minds over any new information on the project they can get their hands on. It's an exciting time to be a Witcher fan, and players are bracing for a massive new announcement this week.
Fans of The Witcher 4 have been eagerly awaiting a new trailer or updates on the game's development progress that might give them a better sense of its official release window. Some players are hopeful they'll get a massive new reveal at PlayStation's State of Play scheduled for this Thursday, February 12 (via Reddit).
The Witcher 4 Fans Have Their Fingers Crossed For A New Drop
Winds Howling For February 12
It's been well over a year since the official reveal trailer dropped for The Witcher 4, but since then, players haven't received much information on the project. To make matters worse, there's been a wave of new rumors about other Witcher projects that have fans extremely excited yet starved for official confirmation from CD Projekt Red.
Rumors of a brand-new The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt DLC from CDPR have been circulating lately, not to mention the long-awaited remaster of the original Witcher 1. Combined with The Witcher 4, anticipation for official confirmation and/or updates from developers on any of these projects is through the roof.
However, fans on Reddit such as Enlwaed74 think that an update in the form of a new trailer is entirely possible this week at PlayStation's State of Play, and are hopeful that the official release date window will be included.
Will We Get A New Witcher 4 Trailer This Week?
PlayStation's State Of Play Is Scheduled For Thursday
Sony has confirmed that the next PlayStation State of Play is scheduled for this Thursday, February 12 at 5:00 PM EST, and Witcher fans are crossing their fingers that a new trailer drops at the event, however unlikely. As annanethir points out, however, CDPR has "never been very close to PlayStation," and predicts that we likely won't see any updates until this year's Summer Game Fest 2026.
Regardless of exactly when we finally get a new The Witcher 4 trailer, players are also hopeful that we might get a glimpse at actual gameplay from the RPG as opposed to a strictly cinematic trailer. The Witcher 4 is just the beginning of what promises to be an incredible saga featuring Ciri as the protagonist, and seeing how this translates to gameplay would give players something to chew on until the game eventually releases.
Currently, The Witcher 4 isn't expected to drop any sooner than 2027, but until CD Projekt Red provides a specific release window update, that timeline remains completely speculative.
