At long last, One Piece has dropped a full trailer for its first anime spinoff, and it looks amazing. With almost 30 years of story to its name, One Piece’s franchise has gone well beyond the confines of the anime and manga; between movies, video games, and manga and novels with varying degrees of canon, there’s always been plenty to enjoy within the franchise, and there’s only more and more material to behold every year.

The One Piece franchise is only getting bigger, and this summer, that will be truer than it's ever been before. In 2025, it was announced that One Piece: Heroines, a spinoff novel about the women of One Piece, would receive an anime adaptation, and two weeks before its premiere on July 5, the first official trailer for the One Piece: Heroines anime has finally been released. Sure enough, the project looks absolutely gorgeous, and One Piece fans of all colors will surely find a lot to love about it.

Why One Piece’s New Spinoff Will Be Amazing

One Piece’s spinoff anime, One Piece: Heroines, is only two weeks away, and it’s sure to be amazing. Visually speaking, Heroines looks to be combining modern One Piece’s brilliant animation with a much softer art style and color palette than anything the anime’s ever done before, which not only appeals to its female-focused narrative, but gives it a genuinely unique visual identity, as well. Series director Haruka Kamatani has a long history working on One Piece movies and One Piece in Love, and her talent is more than showing itself here.

Don't Be Fooled, One Piece's Female Characters Are Some of the Best In All of Anime

While some of the character designs may turn people off of One Piece, the women of this shonen series are much more than meets the eye.

More than that, of course, is the story of it all; it’s one thing for One Piece to make its female characters the leads of a story, but going by the original novel, One Piece: Heroines will be a fun story exploring the idea of the cast embracing their femininity as a show of strength and independence, even when people would otherwise view those things as weaknesses. The women of One Piece are often highly criticized by fans, but this special should show exactly why they’re so great.

One Piece: Heroines looks amazing, and it’s more proof of the One Piece franchise being bigger than ever.
