Sundance Head is on the mend after accidentally shooting himself in the stomach, his wife Misty confirmed in an update on Saturday.
The country singer and winner of The Voice in 2016, 46, was discharged from the hospital late Friday night following what Misty described as a tragic accident.
Misty reassured fans that her husband is in stable condition and detailed how narrowly he avoided a more severe outcome in an emotional post via Facebook.
She said he was incredibly 'lucky,' sharing that if the bullet had been 'any higher or lower', it would have been 'devastating.'
Misty added, 'He’s definitely going to have a lot to say, and once he feels up to it, I’ll have him do a video in his own words.'
She also shared a photo of the shirt Jason was wearing during the incident, warning fans with weak stomachs to avoid looking too closely at the bullet hole.

In a Saturday morning post on Facebook , Misty reassured fans that her husband is in stable condition and detailed how narrowly he avoided a more severe outcome
Misty went on to detail a difficult three-hour ride home from the hospital, 'as the meds were wearing off' and '[Head] was bleeding badly through his dressings.'
'I was able to change and clean out the dressing and repack, though he’s not an easy patient, and gave him some Motrin. Not sure I slept bc I was worried about him,' she added.
In a separate Facebook post, Misty explained that 'no one shot him' and that the bullet was not from his hunting rifle.
'He was out of the vehicle reaching in to grab his 22 when he grabbed it the 22 came out of its holster and hit the exterior of the Jeep just right and went off.'
'Sundance said it happened so fast and he could see the bullet dislodging,' Misty added, before revealing that he did not call 911.
'He put his hands in pocket for phone immediately after getting hit but phone wasn't there just filled with blood...'
'So he took off down the driveway out to the main road to flag a car down for help. 10 cars later someone turned around to help and called 911.'
She added, 'Now this is what he has told me … he is heavily medicated at the moment. He's so lucky and grateful to be alive.'

Misty expressed her gratitude to the doctors and medical team for their care and reassured fans that the bullet had avoided 'vital organs.'
She explained that Sundance will not undergo surgery due to doctors 'not removing the bullet.'
His wife added that she was 'sure' the doctor had given a reason 'but my head is in a fog right now.'
'Him being on the bigger side was a good thing. Bullet is in his fatty tissue. Thanks for all the prayers...'
Sundance Head first gained national attention in 2007 as a semifinalist on American Idol.
