The Undateables star Fats Timbo has revealed why she split from her husband after just seven months of marriage.

The comedian, 29, tied the knot with Alan Laszczak last August in a ceremony that merged their two cultures: Sierra Leonean and Polish.

Yet the couple didn't get the fairytale ending, with Fats revealing she walked away from the marriage just months later.

Speaking on FUBAR Radio's What the Health, Fats reflected on how dramatically her life has changed.

She said: 'One minute your girl's married, next minute I'm telling the world that I'm getting a divorce.

'I need to be able to choose myself. I can't keep putting someone else first that doesn't even put themselves first.'

Fats admitted that walking away was frightening, particularly when her relationship had appeared so happy to others.

'I think a lot of people stay in relationships because they're scared of what people might think, they're scared of being alone,' she said. 'They're scared of what what life holds, and it's familiar.'

She added: 'It was terrifying to come out of something where I was looked so happy to the outside world, but at the same time I had to live my truth.'

Despite the challenges of her divorce, Fats revealed that she is now feeling happier and stronger than ever, having learned to prioritise her own needs rather than constantly trying to please others.

Fats said: 'I'm finally settling in, being on my own and enjoying singlehood, and enjoying working and exploring. I'm not lowering my standards.'

TikTok star Fats first found fame on The Undateables in 2018 – a reality series that follows single people with disabilities who sign up with a dating agency to help find partners.

She announced her engagement in May 2024 after her boyfriend of four years popped the question.

Photographer Alan – whom she did not meet on the show – proposed during the couple's romantic trip to Thailand.

Fats told how she and Alan, who has cerebral palsy, 'understand each other' as they both have disabilities.

Speaking on Loose Women last year, she said: 'He's amazing, he's a gentleman. Everything I want in a man. We both have a disability so we understand each other. I love to be on camera, he loves to be behind the camera, so it works.'

Discussing Alan's proposal, Fats said: 'I'm going to tell you what really happened. I saw a TikTok about someone getting proposed to on the last day of holiday.

'So, I told him: "It's been four years, no ring, what's going on?" I was in a bit of a mood, I was thinking: "You're taking me for a ride".

'He said: "Let's go take a walk on the beach". When we got there, he said: "You're upset with me just turn around". I turn around, and he's on one knee.

Fats has previously explained that she does not like the term 'dwarf,' preferring, as many do, 'little person'.

Since appearing on The Undateables, she has gone on to feature in shows such as Don't Look Down and was a commentator at the 2024 Paris Paralympics.

Fats has amassed a gargantuan 2.9million followers on TikTok and over 300,000 followers on Instagram. She specialises in hilarious skits and is not afraid to make fun of herself.

Her estranged husband Alan is also fond of social media and is detailing his fitness journey as someone with cerebral palsy.

Speaking exclusively to the Daily Mail in 2024, Fats revealed that she initially turned down The Undateables, explaining: 'I didn't like the name whatsoever, that's why I declined initially.

'But then I thought about the bigger picture. I was very young, I was 20 and I thought I could find love.'

Fats continued: 'Also, the first time I ever saw a Black little person was on The Undateables and I thought: "What if I do that for other people?" So, I changed my mind and I messaged them.

'It was a great experience to be honest with you. Although a lot of people say "you're not undateable" and I know it!

'But I'm glad I went on there and showed people my personality and that's where I started my journey. I'm proud to say I did.'
