Critics Are Already Calling ‘Project Hail Mary’ a Masterpiece

In Amazon MGM Studios' Project Hail Mary, Ryland Grace (played by Gosling) wakes up on a spaceship, light-years from Earth, with no recollection of how he got there. Slowly, his memory returns: the sun is dying. Everything on Earth hangs in the balance, threatened with total extinction, and the only hope lies in the hands of Grace, a middle school science teacher with a doctorate in molecular biology, and “Rocky,” a brilliant rock-like alien and engineer. Together, the two set off on a miraculous mission to save their homes and everything they’ve ever known.

The movie is directed by Lord and Miller, penned by Goddard from Weir’s novel, is already receiving rave reviews and has been praised by NASA for its attention to detail and realistic depictions. In addition to Gosling, Project Hail Mary stars Academy Award nominee Sandra Hüller (Anatomy of a Fall), Milana Vayntrub (This Is Us), Ken Leung (Lost), Lionel Boyce (The Bear), and puppeteer and theater performer James Ortiz as Rocky.
