The tangled world of nepo baby relationships as Eddie Murphy's son and Martin Lawrence's daughter announce pregnancy

Earlier this week Eddie Murphy's son and Martin Lawrence's daughter announced they are expecting their first child, after marrying in secret last year. 

Eric Murphy, 36, and Jasmin Lawrence, 30, secretly got married in May 2025 after four years of dating. 

And taking to Instagram on Monday evening, Eric shared the happy news that Jasmin is pregnant with their first baby. 

But they're not the only nepo babies whose famous roots have had a hand in matchmaking. 

They join a long list of nepo babies who have found love with other celebrity offspring, from longstanding romances such as Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz to rumoured new kids on the block Philip Seymour Hoffman's son Cooper and Thandie Newton's daughter Nico Parker. 

Here we take a look at the tangled world of nepo baby relationships.  

Eric Murphy and Jasmin Lawrence

They recently revealed they are expecting their first child together.  

And their offspring may have funny bones as Eric Murphy, 36, and Jasmin Lawrence, 30, both descend from comedy excellence, counting Hollywood's most famous funnymen as parents.

Eric is the oldest child of Eddie's 10 kids; he welcomed his son in 1989 with then girlfriend Paulette McNeely. 

Meanwhile Jasmin was born to Bad Boys and Martin actor, Martin Lawrence. She is the eldest of Martin's three daughters who he shares with former wife Patricia Southall. Hot off the fourth instalment of action comedy, Bad Boys, with Will Smith, it is reported that the actor is worth hundreds of million.

The sweethearts first confirmed their relationship in a sweet Instagram post in 2021 when they took a happy selfie to mark Eric's 32nd birthday.

'Happy birthday, my love!' she said. 'I'm so incredibly blessed to know you, to love you, and to have you by my side. Cheers to many more blessings, laughs, and beautiful memories! I love you so much!!'

Fast forward to 2024 and the love birds shared a video announcing their engagement to both of their Instagram accounts.

'11.27.2024. We're engaged!! God truly blessed us with a love that feels like destiny. We couldn't be more excited for this next chapter ❤️❤️,' their caption began. 'Special thank you to everyone who made this moment so beautiful!!'

And in May 2025, the pair secretly got married after getting engaged the year before. 

It was comedian Eddie who announced Eric and Jasmin's secret wedding last year. 

'Actually, they got married, like, two weeks ago,' the actor said on an episode of The Jennifer Hudson Show. 

'They went off and they got married at the church,' the comedian said. 'They just had the two of them and the preacher. They had a quiet little thing. So, I think we'll have like a big party or something.'

Sharing further happy news, Eric took to Instagram in February 2026 to reveal they are expecting their first child as he shared an array of professional snaps. 

Jasmin was glowing as she showed off her growing baby bump, with Eric seen caressing her. 'Thank you Jesus for the greatest gift ❤️❤️❤️,' the post was captioned.   

Their paths were destined to cross with Eddie and Martin having collaborated on past comedy films such as 1991's Boomerang and 1992's Life. 

The Coming To America star doesn't have to look too far as both his son and Jasmine have followed their parents' career paths into entertainment.

Eric is a writer, voice actor and producer, and most recently revealed that he worked on Automated Dialogue Replacement on his father's Beverly Hills Cop movie.

Meanwhile Jasmin, who graduated from Duke University in 2018, appeared in her dad's hit film Bad Boys for Life.

Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz

Their relationship has been at the centre of a media storm in recent weeks after Brooklyn Beckham's explosive statement stating he has no wish to reconcile with his family.

But it was Brooklyn's rich and famous roots as the son of former Spice Girl and designer Victoria Beckam and footballer David that introduced him to his now-wife Nicola Peltz.  

Meanwhile Nicola is the daughter of billionaire Nelson Peltz - whose wealth eclipses that of Brooklyn's parents, with the businessman boasting a net worth of $1.6billion, in comparison to the Beckhams' $680million.

The pair enjoyed a whirlwind romance after first going public with their budding relationship in November 2019 when pictures emerged of them hugging before getting engaged in July 2020, just eight months later. 

While their relationship officially began in 2019, they actually first met in 2017 – with Brooklyn revealing during an Instagram Q&A with followers that they were originally introduced at the Coachella music festival in California. 

At the time of Coachella Brooklyn was dating Hana Cross, but he and Nicola reconnected two years later at a Halloween party.

In January 2020, Nicola went Instagram official with their romance, posting a bedroom selfie in a bra, with a shirtless Brooklyn in the foreground, captioned with a simple black heart.

The next month they sat front row in coordinating outfits at the Saint Laurent show at Paris Fashion Week.

In July that year, Brooklyn proposed with a £250,000 emerald and diamond ring, sharing the news online by posting: 'I asked my soulmate to marry me, and she said yes xx I am the luckiest man in the world. I promise to be the best husband and the best daddy one day.' 

The pair then bought a plush £7.5m home in Beverly Hills, complete with a private yoga room, gym, outdoor infinity pool and even a juice bar.

It was happy families until Brooklyn and Nicola's 2022 wedding - when tensions between the billionaire heiress and Brooklyn's mother Victoria first surfaced relating to disputes over her wedding dress. 

The tensions reached boiling point in January 2025 when Brooklyn took to Instagram late last month to publicly declare he did not want to reconcile with his parents and accused them of intentionally trying to break up his relationship with Nicola. 

Brooklyn went onto claim in his bombshell statement that Victoria 'hijacked' his first dance with Nicola and that he was left 'humilated' when his mother 'danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone.'

Brooklyn and Nicola's nuptials were covered by US Vogue, which contradicted his claim as they went into lavish detail about how the wedding party followed American traditions of a mother and son and father and daughter dance.

Lily Collins and Charlie McDowell 

Emily In Paris star Lily Collins, 36, and filmmaker Charlie McDowell, 42, both have famous parents in common; Lily is the daughter of legendary British musician Phil and his ex-wife actress Jill Tavelman.

Charlie boasts actor Malcolm McDowell and actress Mary Steenburgen as his parents, as well as stepfather actor Ted Danson who is currently married to his mother.

Known for hits such as 'In the Air Tonight' and 'Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now)', Lily's father Phil is thought to be worth hundreds of million of pounds. Her hubby's elite acting family also pull in a hefty sum.

Lily first met Charlie, a film director and screenwriter on the set of the film Gilded Rage, a movie he directed about the infamous murder of investment banker Thomas Gilbert Sr and which will feature his famous wife.

They officially began dating in 2019 and got engaged the next year, before saying 'I do' in 2021 with a ceremony at Dunton Hot Springs, Colorado.

'It was one of those situations where I knew the second I met him that I wanted to be his wife one day. So, it was just a matter of when, really,' the actress previously shared on Live with Kelly and Ryan.

And they officially became a family of three in January 2025 when the couple welcomed their first child via surrogacy. 

Announcing their new arrival, Lily shared an adorable baby photo to her official Instagram account in a shared post with Charlie.

She wrote on Instagram: 'Welcome to the center of our world Tove Jane McDowell. 

'Words will never express our endless gratitude for our incredible surrogate and everyone who helped us along the way. We love you to the moon and back again.'

According to TMZ, Lily and Charlie's surrogate gave birth to Tove in January in Northern California.

Charlie's mother and stepfather, Mary and Ted, were reportedly seen visiting the baby in the hospital shortly after her birth. 

The lovebirds managed to keep their surrogacy plans completely under the radar until after Tove was born.

Kaia Gerber and Lewis Pullman 

Another acting pair whose relationship turned romantics is the daughter of supermodel Cindy Crawford and the son of actor Bill Pullman. 

Kaia Gerber reportedly began a romance with Lewis Pullman in December 2024 - the same month she ended her three-year relationship with Oscar nominee Austin Butler, 34.

At the time, an insider told People that Kaia and Lewis 'have been spending time together the last few weeks.' 

The source confirmed that they were a couple, a 'cute' one and 'very low-key.' 

In October, Kaia opened up about her relationship with Pullman while making a podcast appearance. 

'A lot is being healed in this relationship,' she told host Jake Shane of the Therapuss podcast, who noted that they seemed to be a 'healthy couple.' 

She also praised their friends-to-lovers arc as she shared: 'I really feel like if you have the opportunity to date a friend, do it, because it just is so much better.' 

Kaia added, 'I would never want to fight with my friends. I never want to be mad at my friends. 

'I respect my friends. It just is a whole other thing.' 

However rumours swirled the pair had broken up last year - which they were quick to quash with a loved-up break together at the beach in January. 

Grace Gummer and Mark Ronson

Meryl Streep's daughter Grace Gummer and music producer Mark Ronson welcomed their second child last year after marrying in 2021. 

But it's not just Grace with family in the industry, as Mark's father and stepfather were also in the music business before his own solo success.  

The actress and the Uptown Funk producer exchanged vows in a lavish wedding in August 2021 and welcomed their first child, a daughter named Ruthie, in early 2023. 

During an interview with PEOPLE last year, Ronson got candid about his family life and deep appreciation for his wife and toddler daughter sweetly sharing that they are his 'anchor.'

'The most important thing is being around for her, so I've never had that — I mean, obviously with my wife too, I love her; I never want to be apart from her for more than a day if I don't have to be,' the performer shared.

'I have to be away sometimes to go write music and do whatever I have to do. But it's like once you have the child too, it really truly does just become everything that is now the most important thing.'

The pair reportedly met at the Chanel Tribeca Film Festival Artist Dinner in April 2019 and have been inseparable since. 

Prior to their romance, Grace was briefly wed to actor Tay Strathairn from 2019 to 2020.

Phoebe Gates and Arthur Donald 

While this nepo baby pairing may still be news to some, their romance was clearly hot on the horizon.

Phoebe Gates, 22, is the last born daughter of billionaire Microsoft founder Bill Gates, 69, and his ex-wife - now too a billionaire - Melinda, 60. Her parents are worth north of $160 billion combined.

Arthur Alistair Donald, 25, is the only grandchild to appear on our list, and boasts Beatles legend and billionaire Paul McCartney, 82, as his granddad. His parents are Paul's daughter Mary McCartney, 55, and her ex husband Alistair Donald, a director and producer, 58.

Through their wealth and connections, the couple were destined to meet; with the friendship between their powerful families going back decades since they were young children. 

Phoebe's father Bill has been friends with Sir Paul since the early noughties and reportedly supported The Beatles star during his messy divorce from ex-wife Heather Mills.

Meanwhile, Paul's daughter, acclaimed fashion designer Stella McCarthy, became close to Bill's ex wife Melinda and has been mentoring Phoebe in her fashion career.

But for Phoebe and Arthur, their love officially blossomed in October 2023 which they confirmed with an Instagram snap of the two hanging out in Paris.  

She also openly referred to Arthur as her 'boyfriend' while documenting her Stanford graduation in an online blog for Nylon.

'My boyfriend, Arthur, giving me a lift post-ceremony,' Phoebe wrote in the post for for her graduation - alongside a loved-up snap of her beau giving her a piggyback. 

The pair are currently working on their own dynasties, with Arthur, a Yale graduate, working as an investor, and Phoebe recently graduating from Stanford.

Iris Apatow and Sam Nivola 

This acting couple were catapulted into the world of fame at a young age, both starring alongside their parents in films as children. 

Iris Apatow, 23, is the daughter of a Hollywood super couple, filmmaker Judd Apatow and actress Leslie Mann.

Meanwhile Sam Nivola, 22, is the son of English thespian Emily Mortimer and American screen star Alessandro Nivola. 

The couple have been dating for three years and iris was seen supporting him during his big break with The White Lotus last year.

Iris first appeared on his Instagram in April 2024 when he shared snaps of her on a yacht with his White Lotus co-star Patrick Schwarzenegger after she flew out to visit him during filming.

'The pookinator is looking absolutely FIRE tonight,' he captioned the first picture posted of her. 

But Sam claims he's not like other nepo babies, as he told Vogue last month: 'My parents aren't, like, total celebrities. They don't get recognised in the street.' 

Sam kicked off his acting career over a decade earlier when he appeared in an episode of Doll & Em in 2013 - which his mother Emily also starred in. 

He later took on a role in the 2022 comedic drama White Noise and worked alongside Nicole Kidman in The Perfect Couple (2024). 

Iris herself is best known for her role in Netflix's Love and Krystal Kris and is currently in the season three of Tell Me Lies. 

But as a child she starred in three of her father's films alongside her mother Leslie, This Is 40, Knocked Up and Funny People. More recently Iris and her mum starred in her father Judd's 2022 film The Bubble. 

Cooper Hoffman and Nico Parker 

Next up we have rumoured nepo newcomers Cooper Hoffman and Nico Parker - who debuted their romance late last year. 

Thandiwe Newton's daughter, Nico, 20, and Philip Seymour Hoffman's son, Cooper, 22, looked extremely smitten as they stepped out for the Christian Dior fashion show as part of Spring/Summer 2026 Paris Fashion Week in October.

In a photo that has since set the internet alight, Nico sweetly placed her hands on her beau's knee and lovingly tilted her head towards his.

Onlookers noticed that she also gently rested her foot on top of Cooper's for the shot.

While the couple has yet to publicly address their supposed romance, Nico has shared a loved-up snap of the two of them together, complete with a red love heart emoji, on her Instagram Story.

Although it's not known when the pair struck up their romance, Nico and Cooper recently starred alongside each other in the comedy film Poetic Licence, directed by fellow nepo baby Maude Apatow. 

Cooper, who is the son of the late Hollywood star Hoffman and costume designer Mimi O'Donnell, followed his father into the industry. 

He made his acting debut in Paul Thomas Anderson's 2021 film Licorice Pizza, in which he played lead role, Gary Valentine.

Similarly, Nico followed her mother into the industry and made her first appearance on screen in the 2019 film Dumbo, directed by Tim Burton.

Since then, she has starred as Pedro Pascal's daughter Sarah in the wildly popular HBO show, The Last of Us.

Nico, whose dad is writer/director Ol Parker, also appeared in Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy and How to Train Your Dragon, both of which premiered this year.
