And Margot Robbie has retained her status as the best method dresser in the business after donning a series of incredible looks on the promotional trail for Wuthering Heights. 

Method dressing - the art of wearing outfits inspired by the character or film one is promoting - has reached new heights of late - just think of Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo during the Wicked tour. 

Yet Margot's Wuthering Heights 'tour-drobe' did more than just embody the gothic glamour of her upcoming film. 

The actress's stylist Andrew Mukamal has revealed there are far deeper meanings behind her ensembles, with the looks inspired by text from Wuthering Heights. 

At the world premiere last week, Margot exuded glamour in a custom Schiaparelli gown and Elizabeth Taylor’s heart-shaped Taj Mahal necklace.

The decision to wear the famous necklace was not taken lightly, with Andrew sourcing the gem after being inspired by the line 'I have not broken your heart - you have broken it; and in breaking it, you have broken mine.' 

The famous quote is spoken by Heathcliff to Cathy in the novel, referencing the pair's mutual destruction and heartbreak. 

Notably, the gem also has an intense love story behind it, with Margot gushing over the £5.7million piece of jewellery after it was lent to her by Cartier.

She said on the red carpet: 'This is Elizabeth Taylor's necklace. The actual Elizabeth Taylor. 

'It's the Taj Mahal diamond so it felt like it had a lot of romantic history and felt appropriate for tonight.

'It's a lot of diamonds tonight, we are bringing the Hollywood glam.'

The Taj Mahal diamond got its name because it was believed it had belonged to Shah Jahan who commissioned the Taj Mahal monument in Agra in India.

It was gifted to Taylor by her fifth husband Richard Burton, who famously quipped: 'I would have liked to buy her the Taj-Mahal but it would cost too much to transport.'

She told Vogue: 'The necklace has marquise diamonds and round rubies throughout, and this set was made to feel as if those jewels had fallen from the necklace and scattered delicately across her nails.

'I approached the application as I would a fine jewellery piece, drilling custom-sized settings into each nail to perfectly fit the stones.'

Two cuts of diamonds (round and marquis) were used, totalling 0.88 karats, along with 0.21 karats of rubies. 

As for the gown, Margot's custom dress came in a blood red hue, rather than the navy colour debuted on the runway, because red is a key colour for Cathy throughout the film. 

Earlier in the day, Margot had modelled another red ensemble for the film's photocall. 

This look was far more revealing, however with Margot sporting a snake print corseted gown by Dilara Findikoglu.

The corset element also appeared again in this look, symbolising Cathy's oppression in the novel and the Victorian era it's set in.

More blood red clothing came with the Paris premiere this week, where Margot donned a Chanel gown that was custom made for her by Matthieu Blazy. 

The wasp waist and full skirt paid homage to the Victorian era while the sleeveless bodice gave the garment a modern twist.  

The exact shade of red was also carefully curated in order to match the red carpet at Le Grand Rex. 

Margot told Vogue: 'It is such an honor to wear this look designed by Matthieu. It’s the first Chanel red carpet look I’ve worn designed by him, and I couldn’t think of a more special occasion than for Wuthering Heights, a project that is so special to me.'

Matthieu added: 'She has a way of making every look her own, with total freedom, and her personal style is a natural extension of herself. 

'I’m happy that the house is supporting a project so close to her heart, and to see her bring this Wuthering Heights–inspired look to life on the red carpet.'

Margot accessorised with yet another choker, this time by Lorraine Schwartz, featuring 85 carats of rare champagne-hued diamonds. 

She added to the look with a diamond ring comprising 15 carats.

Margot didn't just wear red on the promo tour, opting for a feathered white dress by Victoria Beckham as well as a feathered black corset and trousers. 

The decision to include feathers was inspired by the passage in Emily Bronte's novel in which she describes Cathy having a fever-induced breakdown. 

It reads: 'Tossing about, she increased her feverish bewilderment to madness, and tore the pillow with her teeth… 

'She seemed to find childish diversion in pulling the feathers from the rents she had just made, and ranging them on the sheet according to their different species.'  

Margot pulled out all the stops with her look for the UK premiere, wearing a Dilara Findikoglu gown inspired by Emily Bronte's sister Charlotte's traditional mourning bracelet as well as a replica of the jewellery. 

The original bracelet, thought to be made from the intertwined hair of Charlotte’s sisters Emily and Anne over 175 years ago, is far too delicate and historically significant to be worn and remains on display at Brontë Parsonage Museum.

She also sported a replica of Charlotte Bronte's mourning bracelet. The original is thought to be made from the intertwined hair of Charlotte’s sisters Emily and Anne over 175 years

Therefore Wyedean created a museum-quality replica, 'allowing the story and symbolism of the original to step onto the red carpet.' 

Margot also sported another Dilara Findikoglu look, slipping into a sheer gown trimmed with blonde hair to match her own tresses.

She finished off the look with archival Boucheron brooches from the early 20th century. 

Other looks from the promo trail, such as the lace Alexander McQueen dress she wore on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and the corset she wore to do promo in London were more broadly inspired by the gothic glamour of Wuthering Heights. 

It's hardly surprising Margot's Wuthering Heights tour-drobe is so elevated given stylist Andrew also worked with her on the Barbie promo blitz. 

The pair are longtime collaborators, with Andrew telling Hello magazine: 'Margot is a dream and just lovely through and through.

'When I was showing Margot ideas [for the Barbie tour], and I was showing her a couple of the more precise referential moments, she immediately lit up, and I saw her excitement in that... when a client then has that spark, that informs me to say, "Okay, let’s move in that direction."'

Fellow stylist Lisa Talbot thinks the Wuthering Heights collab is even more elevated, however, telling the Daily Mail that Margot is looking 'the best we've seen yet'.

She shared: 'The transformation feels very intentional. 

'Instead of opting for looks that are purely about sex appeal, Margot's latest wardrobe choices feel anchored in storytelling, an embodiment of the film's world and emotional landscape.

'In doing so, she's not only elevated her fashion profile but also reminded fans that great style has both heart and context.'

She added that 'whether you interpret her evolution as a response to fan feedback or simply a new creative chapter, one thing is clear: Margot Robbie's press tour style is stronger, more aligned with her current project, and possibly the best we've seen yet'.

'Margot has always been one of Hollywood's most fascinating fashion stars, fearless, experimental and unapologetically feminine,' Lisa continued.

'But on her most recent press tour for Wuthering Heights, there's a real sense she's listened to the audience and recalibrated her aesthetic in ways that feel both thoughtful and beautifully aligned with the film she's promoting.'

For the London photocall, Margot wore a vintage period style coat from John Galliano, teamed with a thigh-skimming black miniskirt, raunchy red stockings and custom Manolo Blahnik heels

Lisa continued: 'Earlier in her career, Margot's red-carpet outfits, particularly around her Barbie press tour leaned into hyper-feminine, often bold silhouettes that played with glamour and sex appeal in a very now way.

'That era brought us Barbie-pink archival looks and sculptural tailoring that captured headlines around the world. But, as with all artists, evolution is key and Margot's latest wardrobe feels like the next chapter.

'Many looks, including custom Schiaparelli at the Wuthering Heights premiere, play with contrast, exposing yet covering, bold yet refined, which ties back to the film's themes of love, restraint and passion.

'This approach has resonated with a lot of fans, with many praising the way she's channelled old-world glamour and character-driven styling that feels fresh and confident.

'Even when some pieces push boundaries, such as sheer overlays or dramatic corsetry, she's commanding the look rather than being worn by it.'

The fashion expert credited Andrew, for 'curating outfits that feel deliberate and poetic: from Victorian-inspired lace minis and rich textures to dramatic feathered ensembles that feel both romantic and modern'.
