- The Summer I Turned Pretty is getting its own movie
- The news was officially announced during the season 3 finale red carpet event on September 17
- Plot details are still firmly under wraps
It turns out it’s not the end of The Summer I Turned Pretty after all. Despite the finale airing on Prime Video on September 17, it’s been revealed that while there won’t be a season 4, there will be a movie.
I mean, I’m not totally surprised, given how The Summer I Turned Pretty finale ended with a letter from the book-turned-show’s writer, Jenny Han, saying: "Maybe we'll meet again one summer in Cousins. Until then." I jut didn't expect it to be this soon.
And while fans (including myself) were left a little deflated by the lack of “what next?” for Belly-Conrad in the season 3 finale, it looks like we’ll hopefully be getting our answers – in a whole feature-length movie, no less.
Speaking to Amazon Prime Video, Han said: “There is another big milestone left in Belly’s journey, and I thought only a movie could give it its proper due. I’m so grateful to Prime Video for continuing to support my vision for this story and for making it possible to share this final chapter with the fans.”
For anyone who’s read the book, you’ll know that there definitely was a little more planned for Belly and Conrad, but I won’t spoil it here.
What we want to see from a TSITP movie
Firstly, I think we can all agree, we'd love to see whether Conrad and Belly get married. It was clear to Conrad that Belly's rushed country club wedding planning with Jeremiah wasn't something she actually wanted – and fortunately, that became clear to Belly, too. You never know, now that Jeremiah is in his chef-era, maybe he'll do the catering.
And, if said wedding does happen in the movie, maybe we'll finally get to see Belly open her letter from Susannah? She's been a huge influence on Belly throughout the past three seasons, hopefully whatever she has to say is exactly what Belly wants to hear.
No doubt we'll also get to see what whether Jeremiah and Denise is actually a thing and who he really ends up with... Because it certainly didn't feel like it was going to be Denise, considering Jeremiah's history of not finishing anything he starts.
Finally, Steven and Taylor had their very own endgame in the season 3 finale, deciding to move to San Francisco together for Steven's work and seeming pretty happy about it. But, will they also get their happily ever after?
