Netflix has been the home of some of the best-loved adaptations of the year. Most recently, the brilliant Florence Pugh starred as Cathy Ames in an adaptation of John Steinbeck's celebrated 1952 family saga, East of Eden, just a couple of months before she features in two of the biggest movies of the year: Avengers: Doomsday and Dune: Part Three. The series proved a big hit on Netflix, reportedly earning 6.5 million views in just its first four days.

Another series to impress during its first season on Netflix is an adaptation of Australian writer Miles Franklin's book, My Brilliant Career. The series scored a perfect 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes after its debut and became an instant global hit on streaming. The story of headstrong farm girl Sybylla Melvyn's (Philippa Northeast) hunt for freedom debuted at #4 on the global charts with 3.1 million views before hitting almost 8 million total views across 190 countries in its first two weeks.

Northeast's acclaimed lead performance helped propel My Brilliant Career up the streaming charts, and her talent is about to move to an exciting new Netflix adaptation. Exclusively revealed by Variety, Northeast is taking over the role of Suzy from Quintessa Swindell in Feral, a seven-part comedy drama based on the novel Savages by Shirley Conran. In the report, no reason was given for Swindell's exit. The logline for the series reads:

"Four very different women accompany their mining executive husbands on a corporate holiday to a beautiful but lethal tropical island. When the men’s shady deals land them all in danger, the women must learn to survive the jungle – and each other. Can they put aside their differences, self-doubts and vanities to stay alive?"

Who Else Stars in 'Feral'?

After her Golden Globe-winning performance in Richard Gadd's thriller Baby Reindeer, Jessica Gunning will lead the new adaptation as Annie, alongside Downton Abbey favorite Michelle Dockery as Julia, Genevieve O’Reilly as Silvana, and Triangle of Sadness' Dolly de Leon as Elena. The screenplay for the adaptation is penned by Jude Mack, and it will be directed by Emma Freeman.

Philippa Northeast has joined the cast of Netflix's Feral. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
