Ed Sheeran broke down in tears on stage in Philadelphia after his North America tour descended into chaos.

The British Grammy winner was left without any supporting acts or even his own backing band after Macklemore was dumped from the lineup for speaking out in support of Gaza and the Palestinian people.

US stadium owner Robert Kraft, who is Jewish, accused the American rapper, 43, of hate speech after he publicly called for a 'free Palestine' and banned him from performing at his Gillette Stadium near Boston.

Sheeran, 35, tried to justify the decision by stating he 'never wanted to be an activist musician' but the controversy overwhelmed his tour and threats of a boycott forced him into an apology.

He told fans at his Loop tour concert Saturday night that his family has 'abandoned' him and he has 'found out who his friends are,' as he admitted to making 'mistakes' in his handling of the situation.

He then backtracked on his previous vow not to bring politics to his show, calling the situation in Gaza 'catastrophic and unjustifiable' and Hamas's October 7 attacks 'horrific.'
