Jason Kelce, Lane Johnson, and Jordan Mailata—aka, the Philly Specials of the Philadelphia Eagles football team—have provided myriad gifts to every child in the Philadelphia public school system, including Star Wars mystery boxes. As part of their initiative, titled Operation Snowball, the Philly Specials distributed gifts to kids across the city of Philadelphia. In some cases, this included the three star athletes visiting Philadelphia schools in person to hand out gifts.
Even for those schools that weren't visited by the Philly Specials themselves, every student in the public and charter schools throughout the city was given their own gift. Among some of the gifts were winter hats, Wawa gift cards, plush toys, and mystery boxes containing Star Wars toys. Jason Kelce and the other Philly Specials truly brought the holiday season to kids throughout Philadelphia with this thoughtful effort, and these adorable Star Wars toys are a wonderful example.
These Really Are The Perfect Star Wars Holiday Gifts
Each Box Contained Its Own Character
Although the items varied across grades and schools, some of the gifts given to children throughout the Philadelphia school district were Star Wars mystery boxes, containing major characters from Star Wars movies and TV shows. Among the characters were Chewbacca, Princess Leia, Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano, stormtroopers, and others. The initiative itself was already incredibly thoughtful, but these gifts make the gesture even better.
In addition to including some of Star Wars' best characters, these mystery boxes were the perfect gift for Operation Snowball. Star Wars continues to be a franchise beloved by younger generations, which more recent shows like Star Wars: Skeleton Crew are only building upon even more, and the mystery element of the boxes made the gifts fun for all. While there were other gifts distributed as well, these Star Wars mystery boxes are truly delightful.

This Initiative Guarantees Every Child In The Philadelphia School System Gets A Gift This Holiday Season
To celebrate the holiday season and ensure that every child in the Philadelphia school system receives a gift this year, Kelce, Johnson, and Mailata collaborated with The Fund for the School District of Philadelphia to bring a gift to nearly 200,000 students across the city's school system, including public and charter schools. Along with the gifts were cards carrying a touching message for the kids. The note read:
"Nothing celebrates the holidays like giving a gift to someone you care about. Countless Philadelphians, and people around the world, chose to support this initiative and make giving this gift to you possible.
The spirit of our city is strong, and that's a reflection of Philadelphians. We are tough, we are resilient, and we care for each other. You are the future of Philly - our city, our spirit, and our community - and that's a legacy worth caring about!
We wish you a wonderful holiday season and a Happy New Year! Enjoy the times spent and memories made with those you love."
The note signed off with, "With Brotherly Love," a reference to Philadelphia's nickname, the City of Brotherly Love.
This initiative seems to be the first of its kind, and it really couldn't be more heartwarming to see. With these gifts and these notes, the Philly Specials reminded Philadelphia's students, their families, and countless others that family, community, and compassion really are the focus of the holiday season. Jason Kelce, Lane Johnson, and Jordan Mailata's Operation Snowball was a brilliant, touching gesture, and the initiative's connection to Star Wars just makes it that much better.
