Soon enough, Simmers will be able to dress up their Sims like their favorite characters from Mean Girls and Clueless, as Paramount Pictures is collaborating with EA to bring these iconic movies to The Sims 4. This isn't a full-blown expansion pack; these crossover items are coming to The Sims 4 in two new kits. The Mean Girls and Clueless Kits launch next week on Thursday, Aug. 27.
As expected, both the Mean Girls and Clueless Kits will predominantly consist of Create-a-Sim goodies, but there will be two Build Mode items. According to EA's blog post, each kit will cost $3.99, which makes them less expensive than other kits. However, the item count has not been disclosed yet. Here are some of the items that EA has described as being part of the kits:
- Miniskirts
- Sweaters
- Festive hat
- Mathletes signature team jacket
- Velour tracksuit
- Plaid outfit set
- Button-front skirt
- Layered tops
- Workout outfits
- Tai-inspired overalls
Some fans were excited to learn that outfits from their favorite movies would be coming to The Sims 4. However, many are still upset over EA's buyout by Saudi Arabia and private equity. These displeased fans showed their sentiments in the comments section, making it clear that they would no longer support the company by buying Sims 4 DLC.
"Last year I would have bought...this year, I don't purchase from Saudi Arabia. You no longer deserve my hard-earned money," commented one user under the reveal trailer post, followed by the hashtag "#BoycottEA".
Anoother user said, "Women in skirts? That's not very Saudi Arabia of you." The Sims series was a pioneer for LGBTQ+ content in video games. For a long time, it was a safe space for queer gamers. While The Sims Team has stated in the past that the buyout would not influence The Sims 4, there is no doubt that there is a clash when comparing the original maker's values to Saudi Arabia's. Unfortunately, this has caused many players to distance themselves from the game — and the constant bugs didn't help either.
