Netflix could not have added The Sex Lives of College Girls at a better time, with millions of students around the country returning to school at the start of September. While the series is by no means a resourceful guide for college students in reality, it does carry some relatable and familiar elements of the traditional 4-year college experience. Even though Kaling and company didn't end up getting the season 4 it wanted and arguably deserved, the existing three seasons of The Sex Lives of College Girls still hold up as one of the decade's best comedy series of its kind.
Critics nearly unanimously praised the first two seasons of The Sex Lives of College Girls, with Variety writing, "The Sex Lives of College Girls proves that there are plenty of ways for TV shows to tell college stories, especially when rooted in engagingly messy characters like these."
