The Pitt & Pokémon Is A Winning Combination With A Real Purpose

Developers at Panacea Interactive are a mission-based team who want to make the field of health sciences and medicine more accessible via interactive digital experiences, and they've recently launched a free demo of their new project, Medimon, on Steam. It's a turn-based, Pokémon-style adventure RPG that aims to teach players about medicine, the human body, and biology without them even realizing it:

Medimon is a monster-taming game where players catch, raise, and battle monsters that represent cells, organ systems, and diseases. Each Medimon contains mnemonics baked into its design to aid in understanding and learning important aspects of the medical item they represent.

The game uses these mnemonic names to get players to learn while they're playing in an immersive world with seven different regions on a mission to "collect all 188 Medimon as you carve your path through Medicorum." It's a creature collector game intended to educate players without it being cumbersome or blatant, set "inside a world inspired by the human body."

In Medimon, each creature "represents a force of life, from immune defenders to deadly diseases. Each creature is designed with unique abilities, evolution paths, and strategic roles" designed around actual systems in the human body. "This is not just about collecting. It is about mastering systems. Understand how the world works and you will dominate the battlefield."

Medimon's free demo is officially available on Steam now, and will give you access to the Prologue and Level 1. "The Prologue introduces players to the story, world, and core mechanics, while Level 1 expands the adventure with more Medimon to discover, battles to take on, and areas to explore." The demo gives you roughly 30–60 minutes of gameplay, though that could end up being much longer if you end up getting hooked.
