Comedian Moshe Kasher has revealed he was diagnosed with HPV-positive tonsil cancer after finding a 'bump' at the back of his throat.
Kasher, 46, who is known for appearances on The Pitt, Zoolander 2 and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, announced his shock diagnosis on Father's Day, posting photos after undergoing surgery.
He had been working three months as a punch-up writer on the Savannah, Georgia set of the upcoming Judd Apatow-directed film The Comeback King starring Glen Powell, when he was given the terrifying news.
'It was cancer. Which did not rule so hard,' Kasher told his 138k followers alongside a photo of himself in hospital with a bandaged neck.
'happy father's day. some lousy news. I wrote this on so much oxy,' added the stand-up comic, who has eight-year-old daughter, Frida, with his wife and fellow comedian, Natasha Leggero.
'Two days ago, a Jewish surgery robot at Cedars-Sinai yanked my jaw open for 5 hours and cut it out and then slit my throat and dissected my neck leaving me with a hardcore neck scar which will make people reluctant to street fight me,' Kasher wrote in humorous fashion over a diagram of the surgery.

'My tongue was clamped and yanked out of my mouth and is so swollen and bruised. I sound like I Am Sam.'
Another snap showed Kasher with the drawing of an arrow pointing to the 'location of my future hardcore scar' on his neck.
He admitted the ordeal of the past few months had been 'the most terrifying and consciousness-consuming experience of my life.'
Kasher said that he still managed to spend 12-hour days on set pitching jokes while his life was 'terror, meditation, tears, and medical planning.'
'I truly cannot believe I managed to work an entire movie while dealing with this,' he continued. 'But Judd could not have been a more kind, supportive and nurturing friend all while on the verge of a five hour energy overdose from his terrifying habit.'
Kasher also gave a shout-out to the staff of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
'The people at Cedars are all such kind pros and I feel like I'm in the best hands possible,' he said. 'I'm in pain and I'm in the middle of a very difficult process. It's gonna be a long summer. But the good news is the cancer I have has an incredibly high cure rate (in the 95% zone).
'As for getting through this - I am. I will continue. I will get better. I'm so grateful I have a life that's worth living and a kid to raise this Father's Day,' Kasher concluded.
The stand-up comic put his talent for bitingly sarcastic humor to use while describing the details of the discovery on Instagram
