Square Enix has announced that it is ending service for Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis on Oct. 6, 2026. The mobile title was released in 2023 and will have run for just over three years by the time the plug is pulled. Ever Crisis joins a growing list of Square Enix mobile titles that have been taken offline in recent years.
In an official notice on the Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis website, Square Enix wrote, "We understand that this news may be disappointing, and we sincerely apologize for the abrupt nature of this announcement." The notice continues by saying that while Square Enix has worked to provide a good experience for players since the game's launch, it has "determined that it will be difficult to continue doing so." Before the game's scheduled closure, players can use Red Crystals (in-game currency) until the end of service. Unfortunately, only Taiwan residents will be able to receive refunds for any unused Red Crystals (which are purchased with real-world money).

Ever Crisis is a separate remake of Final Fantasy 7, distinct from the big-budget remake trilogy Square Enix is developing. Through periodic updates, Ever Crisis slowly added every mainline and spin-off story from the extended Final Fantasy 7 universe to its experience, including Dirge of Cerberus and Advent Children. This meant players could enjoy the entire Compilation of Final Fantasy 7 (Square Enix's name for the franchise) in one place.
The only game Ever Crisis has yet to adapt is the obscure mobile title Before Crisis, which itself was shut down in 2018. Coinciding with the end of service announcement, Shoichi Ichikawa revealed in a producer's letter that Before Crisis will finally come to Ever Crisis. The new story will be released in three parts from July through August.
Square Enix previously shut down servers for mobile title Nier Reincarnation in 2024. BothFinal Fantasy Brave Exvius and Dragon Quest of the Stars were later shut down in 2025. Brave Exvius is getting new life later this year in the form of Final Fantasy Resonance, a console port of the title set to be released on Oct. 22. Square Enix also adapted the mobile title Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent (which is still available) into the console game Octopath Traveler 0. There has been no news of Nier Reincarnation getting a similar release on consoles yet, but hope springs eternal. Perhaps Ever Crisis will find new life as a console game sometime in the near future.
