Theme park management sims have spent decades letting players chase the same fantasy: build the perfect amusement park, keep guests happy and maybe design a roller coaster that doesn’t immediately fling visitors into disaster. Now, the next major entry in the genre may come with a little Disney magic.

Frontier Developments announced Wednesday that it has entered into an agreement with Disney to develop and publish a new game based on Disney’s “iconic portfolio of IP,” raising the possibility of a new theme park management sim built around one of the most famous entertainment brands in the world.

Frontier did not reveal the game’s title, platforms or release window, but the company's history strongly hints at the genre — its franchises include Planet Coaster, Planet Zoo and Jurassic World Evolution. The announcement does not specifically say the new game will be a Disney theme park sim, but Frontier’s track record makes that one of the most obvious possibilities. The ideal scenario would give Disney Adults control of their own Magic Kingdom, Epcot, or another Disney resort — or perhaps even all of them.

Jo Cooke, CEO of Frontier Developments, said the collaboration fits the company’s strategy of building “world-class creative management simulation game franchises.”

“Our mission with this game is to connect a passionate creative community of players with one of the world's most iconic and beloved brands, and I can’t wait to see what our talented teams will create with this amazing opportunity,” Cooke said in the announcement.

Why the genre feels primed for Disney

A Disney-themed management game would arrive at a fitting time for the genre.

Atari recently announced RollerCoaster Tycoon Wonderworks, a new mainline entry in the classic PC park-building series, which is planned to launch in Steam early access this winter. Developed by Springloaded, the studio behind Let’s Build a Zoo, the game brings RollerCoaster Tycoon back after a long absence from the spotlight.

Simulation games have also been finding younger and more playful angles lately, from cozy management games to family-friendly riffs on city building like Lego’s take on Cities: Skylines. That broader shift makes a Disney collaboration feel like a natural fit: a management game that could pair approachable park-building with instantly recognizable worlds and characters.

For now, Frontier and Disney are keeping the details under wraps. But with Disney’s catalog of characters, worlds and theme park history, the project could be the closest thing yet to an official Disney park-building sandbox.
