WARNING! THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS ABOUT THE MASKED SINGER SEASON 14!
The Masked Singer season 14 contestant Galaxy Girl has had two out-of-this-world performances, and it's becoming very clear that her true identity is singer and actress Ashlee Simpson. The Masked Singer season 14 welcomed back host Nick Cannon, along with panelists Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg, Ken Jeong, and Rita Ora. So far, Galaxy Girl has performed twice, on Premiere Night and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Night, singing stellar renditions of "Super Graphic Ultra Modern Girl" by Chappell Roan and "Just A Girl" by No Doubt.
During The Masked Singer season 14 Premiere Night, the panelists guessed that Galaxy Girl was Lindsay Lohan (Rita), Jennifer Love Hewitt (Jenny), or Emma Stone (Ken), while, on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Night, they guessed that she was Dixie D'Amelio (Rita), Anne Hathaway (Ken), or Hilary Duff (Jenny). However, all of these guesses are most likely incorrect because Galaxy Girl's clue packages and voice point to Ashlee Simpson.
Galaxy Girl Received Scholarships & Was The Youngest On Stage
During The Masked Singer season 14 Premiere Night, Galaxy Girl revealed in her clue package that she was accepted into the best schools on scholarship, and she was the youngest on stage, all before she could even drive. This matches Ashlee's experience of enrolling in the School of American Ballet in New York City when she was eleven. She was the youngest person ever to be admitted. However, in 1999, when her sister, Jessica Simpson, began to pursue her singing career, Ashlee and her family moved to Los Angeles.
Galaxy Girl Admitted That Perfection Was Never Her Thing
On The Masked Singer season 14 Premiere Night, Galaxy Girl stated that she was human, and perfection was never her thing, so she walked away. This is most likely a reference to when Ashlee was the musical guest on Saturday Night Live and was caught lip-syncing on live TV when the wrong song began to play during one of her performances. Ashlee famously danced a jig, and then walked off the stage during the incident, which sparked a lot of backlash.
This experience was also referenced on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Night when a book called New York Time was shown in the window of a bookstore. The illustration on the cover was a stopwatch, which probably referred to when she stopped her performance.
Galaxy Girl's Visual Clues Referenced Ashlee's Songs
In Galaxy Girl's Masked Singer clue packages, there were several visual clues that were clear references to Ashlee's songs. On Premiere Night, a glowing heart most likely referred to her love songs, while a "Welcome 2 LA" sign was not only a nod to her move to Los Angeles, but her song, "La La." A calendar page with Friday the 13th circled was most likely a reference to the film Freaky Friday, which featured Ashlee's song, "Just Let Me Cry," on its soundtrack.
On Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Night, a clue was Christmas jingle bells. Galaxy Girl stated that the holidays were definitely an important time in her career, and she loves the holidays and the cheer. This was probably a reference to Ashlee's 2002 song, "Chrismas Past, Present, and Future," which was featured on the holiday album, School's Out! Christmas, and later re-released on Radio Disney Jingle Jams after Ashlee's success in the music industry.
In addition, the bookstore clue refer to her number one, triple-platinum-selling album, Autobiography.
Astrology Clues Referred To Galaxy Girl's Relationship
Credit: Fred Hayes/Getty ImagesOn The Masked Singer season 14 Premiere Night, the constellations Virgo and Libra were shown in Galaxy Girl's clue package. Ashlee was born on October 3, which makes her a Libra, while her husband, actor and singer Evan Ross, was born on August 26, and is a Virgo. This is especially significant because many fans believe that The Masked Singer season 14 contestant Stingray is Evan.
Galaxy Girl Made A Major Change
During Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Night, Galaxy Girl shared that she made a major change in her life at a crucial moment. She stated that, because she spent her life in front of cameras, people tried to control her every move, especially as a woman. However, she wouldn't stand for that. Galaxy Girl revealed that, the night before one of the biggest shoots of her life, she changed her whole look, and she didn't tell anybody. The next day, when everyone saw what she'd done, they panicked.
However, Galaxy Girl asserted that they didn't know what was best for her. Only she did. She then stated that she was right: the shoot went global, and her look was iconic. This story referred to when Ashlee dyed her hair from blonde to brunette in 2004 after she finished filming the TV show, 7th Heaven. She went to CVS and bought a box of brown hair dye, and dyed her hair herself. This was right before she was shot the music video for her debut single, "Pieces of Me." Ashlee's look became iconic.
Galaxy Girl Had A Surfboard Clue
On The Masked Singer season 14 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Night, a yellow surfboard was seen in Galaxy Girl's clue package. This is a reference to her two Teen Choice Awards because the award is a surfboard. Ashlee won two awards in 2004 for Choice Fresh Face and Choice Song of the Summer for "Pieces of Me." Ashlee was also nominated for Choice TV Breakout Star - Female for 7th Heaven in 2003 and Choice TV Personality: Female in 2005.
Galaxy Girl's Bowl Of Oranges Recalled An Incident
During The Masked Singer season 14 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Night, a bowl of oranges was offered to Galaxy Girl, but she stood with her arms folded, rejecting it. This was most likely a reference to Ashlee's 2005 Orange Bowl halftime show, during which she was booed while singing her single, "La La." This performance followed her disastrous Saturday Night Live appearance.
The Masked Singer season 14's Galaxy Girl has been giving epic performances since her debut on the show. While the panelists have made many guesses about her identity, none of them have figured out who she most likely actually is: Ashlee Simpson. Although it's only speculation now, the clues match Ashlee's life and career. In addition, her voice is highly recognizable. Whoever Galaxy Girl turns out to be, she'll most likely skyrocket to the Masked Singer season 14 finale, and win the Golden Mask Trophy.
The Masked Singer airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on FOX.
