Married At First Sight season 18’s experts are using some interesting techniques to create their matches, but the unconventional tactics could be what turn the tides for the team. While there are many who have lost their trust in the MAFS experts, currently comprised of Dr. Pepper Schwartz, Dr. Pia Holec, and Pastor Cal Roberson, others are simply waiting for things to improve. With Married At First Sight season 18 taking on a whole new group of couples, the experts have the opportunity to find new ways to match up the singles that could make their end result more successful.

Throughout the last several years, Married At First Sight viewers have struggled to watch as the couples on the series have been mismatched in nearly every way. Though there have been a few solid matches in the last few years, the last six seasons of the series have only produced two couples who remain together today. Though matchmaking is done by people who have expertise in human behavior and relationships, there are factors out of their control that have made it impossible for them to predict such poor outcomes. Even with new tactics, all eyes are on MAFS season 18.

A MAFS Season 18 Bride Revealed Dr. Pia’s Strange Methods

She Spoke About The MAFS Screening Process

Although the Married At First Sight season 18 matchmaking special shared more about the experts and how they were going about matching up the singles this season, one MAFS bride revealed more details about the process than the experts did on screen. Karla, who was matched up with MAFS groom Juan during the matchmaking special, shared with Screen Rant that there were some interesting things she was tasked with during the screening process. She revealed Dr. Pia, who administered some of her evaluations, asked Karla to draw male genitalia as part of her interview.

While psychological testing has always been part of the Married At First Sight process, hearing some of the more in-depth tests that were administered is always interesting to viewers. Though it may be somewhat unorthodox, it’s clear that Married At First Sight’sDr. Pia was using a method that she felt would be helpful to understand more about Karla and what she wanted in a partner. Asking for her to draw something unorthodox was likely shocking, but clearly helped Dr. Pia and the rest of the experts in their matchmaking process.

Although Karla shared more about the in-depth nature of the screening process, there have been accusations from viewers for years that the experts use the same methods each season. Whatever insight that MAFS viewers get into the matchmaking process, it always seems like it’s a lot of the same from season to season. With some Married At First Sight couples appearing to be completely mismatched from the start, it’s been obvious to viewers that the experts aren’t diversifying their methods of how to match people up. With MAFS season 18 potentially breaking the mold, could the experts be branching out?

Could The MAFS Experts Be Branching Out?

They May Be Changing Up Their Methods

Although it’s not clear if Dr. Pia’s drawing request is something that the experts often employ, it could be a sign that the experts are changing up their methods after years of criticism. With so many couples having been mismatched through the years of Married At First Sight, it’s possible that the experts were struggling with continuing to see themselves fail and hearing the scrutiny from Married At First Sight viewers. While there are always going to be tried and true methods that the experts use to create their matches, there’s nothing wrong with changing up the methods, either.

Married At First Sight airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EDT on Lifetime.
