A MacBook is seemingly expensive on the surface, but you always get a laptop that’s built to last for many years to come. That’s why I'm drawn to this particular offer in the early Black Friday sales. Today, you can buy the MacBook Air 13-inch (M2) at Currys for £699 (was £849), which is the lowest price it has ever been.
The laptop is three years old, but Apple hardware doesn’t date as fast as PC setups. I say this as an owner of a MacBook Pro (M1). It still doesn’t miss a beat and is great for video editing as well as regular daily tasks. With this MacBook Air deal, you get a better chip in the M2 – one that is still powerful and efficient for everyday use, and at a fantastic low price.
Today’s best MacBook deal
Our MacBook Air 13-inch (M2) review gave it a very easy-to-recommend 4.5 stars out of five. We loved its (for the time) “great new design”, as well as its “very good performance” – both things that have aged well even now.
We called it “a great upgrade from the MacBooks that came before, and it's ideal for students,” and that remains the case now. That goes even more so if you’re on a tight budget, making pricier entries in our guide to the best MacBooks less viable.
More storage would have been nice, but that’s the only significant downside I can see here. You can always circumvent that by using cloud storage such as iCloud. Other than that, this is a great entry point to the MacBook world without spending a ton.
