Manuel Garcia-Rulfo's iconic The Lincoln Lawyer defense attorney will be debuting his final case on Netflix soon.

In January 2026, Netflix officially renewed The Lincoln Lawyer for season 5 ahead of the debut of the show's acclaimed fourth outing that February. However, the renewal was followed in May by the bittersweet news that season 5 would serve as the series' final installment on Netflix, bringing back Mickey Haller actor Manuel Garcia-Rulfo to lead one final case as the titular attorney. Shooting for season 5 kicked off shortly after renewal in March before concluding this July, with Netflix having yet to announce an official premiere date for the last episodes.

Now, just a few months after wrapping production, The Lincoln Lawyer season 5 finally has a confirmed release window. While celebrating the release of his new Harry Bosch novel, The Hollow, Mickey Haller book series author and The Lincoln Lawyer executive producer Michael Connelly revealed on Threads that season 5 will premiere on Netflix in 2027.

Before Connelly's clarification, there was speculation around whether The Lincoln Lawyer season 5 could arrive on Netflix before the end of 2026 given its July production conclusion. While season 4 wrapped filming in mid-2025 before premiering in February 2026, season 3 finished shooting in June 2024 ahead of an October debut that same year. However, The Lincoln Lawyer season 5's confirmed 2027 premiere indicates it will be more closely aligned with the release timeline of season 4, making early 2027 the most likely launch window.

Alongside Garcia-Rulfo as Mickey Haller, the returning cast of The Lincoln Lawyer for season 5 includes Becki Newton, Jazz Raycole, and Angus Sampson. Cobie Smulders will also be back as Emi Finch, who was revealed to be Mickey's long-lost sister in The Lincoln Lawyer season 4's cliffhanger ending. Meanwhile, Neve Campbell, Krista Warner, Angelica Maria, and Gigi Zumbado will reprise their roles as recurring guest stars in season 5.

Furthermore, the final season is set to bring on plenty of newcomers for Mickey's last big case of the series. Among the fourteen new recurring guest stars confirmed for season 5 are Chris Diamantopoulos, Corbin Bernsen, Steve Howey, Diane Guerrero, Iker Garcia, Richard Cabral, Patty Guggenheim, Angela Trimbur, Amy Aquino, Elpidia Carillo, Teresa Maria, Nate Corddry, Tricia Helfer, and Keir O'Donnell.

Netflix has revealed that The Lincoln Lawyer season 5 will be based on Michael Connelly's 2023 book Resurrection Walk, with the final outing consisting of 10 total episodes. The story will follow up on season 4's last-minute twist of revealing Emi as Mickey Haller's half-sister, whom he didn't know existed, with Emi requesting his help to free a wrongfully convicted woman. At the same time, Lorna, Izzy, and Cisco will be tackling their own high-profile conflicts while Mickey and his extended family dangerously unravel corruption, lies, and a shattered legacy.

While the main series is coming to a close in 2027, it may not be the end of The Lincoln Lawyer franchise on Netflix. In August 2026, it was reported that Netflix is developing its first The Lincoln Lawyer spinoff series centered around Cobie Smulders' character, with a script written by executive producers Ted Humphrey, Dailyn Rodriguez, and Matthew J. Lieberman. While Netflix has yet to greenlight The Lincoln Lawyer's offshoot, a more formal decision may arrive near the release of season 5.

And while audiences await news on a potential greenlight, there are plenty of characters Netflix could explore in various Lincoln Lawyer spinoffs and in the general universe of Connelly's novels. From FBI criminal profiler Terry McCaleb to burglar Cassie Black, Connelly's novels all take place in the same universe and often feature crossover characters. Though The Lincoln Lawyer is coming to an end, it's even possible that Mickey Haller appears in another series down the line, especially if Netflix invests further in this universe of characters.
