The Legend Of Zelda's First Major 40th Anniversary Release Has Officially Dropped

There are very few series that remain popular today that have also managed to reach their 40th anniversary, with legendary franchises like Super Mario and Dragon Quest standing near-enough alone (though we mustn't forget Microsoft Flight Simulator). The Legend of Zelda is joining that very exclusive club this year, and there are plenty of releases coming down the pipeline to mark the occasion.

The Ocarina of Time Remake is the biggest of those, allowing players from the modern generation to experience the classic title in a whole new light. That's not all though, with the movie also dropping next year, and other games rumored to be under development that are simply going to take a little longer to cook.

Now, one of the most exciting physical releases tied to the franchise this year is about to go out to customers, and it's not too late to get in on the action yourself.

Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild LP Vinyl Set BOTW

Over on the official profile for Laced on Twitter/X, the company confirmed that all versions of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild soundtrack vinyl will start arriving with customers from September 4th. That's after a long period of manufacturing and significant delays caused them to push the date back initially, likely making this a relied to those who've ordered already.

The vinyl comes in two editions, a Deluxe Double Vinyl that retails at $50.00, and a genuinely impressive Limited Edition Deluxe X8LP Boxset, that comes in at a pretty staggering $200. Though the original limited edition run has long since sold out, the company is now taking pre-orders on the non-limited versions of the same products, at the same price.

In letting fans know what they can expect from the Deluxe Edition, the manufacturer shared the following description:

"Nintendo and Laced Records are linking up to bring the sweeping music of The Legend of Zelda™: Breath of the Wild to vinyl records with this 8LP box set featuring nearly four hours of music. This collaboration marks the first time a Nintendo soundtrack has been commercially released on vinyl outside of Japan.

"This box set features heavyweight LPs that come in printed disc inners and spined inner sleeves, all housed in a rigid board dual slipcase. All packaging is adorned with archival artwork by the team behind The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild."

Next month will also see another major 40th anniversary in the form of Secrets of the Zonai, a brand-new art book that's focused on the behind-the-scenes development of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, alongside tons of new lore about this era in Hyrule's history. It's definitely one for hardcore collectors, and a fitting goodbye to the Wilds era.

Happily, if you want to pre-order to get some more Breath of the Wild goodness in your life, they're expecting to ship new orders this month, though it's worth noting that is subject to delays.
