EXCLUSIVE: Writers-producers Dan Dworkin & Jay Beattie (The Lost Symbol) have boarded Fox‘s new drama The Interrogator, starring British actor-comedian Stephen Fry, as executive producers and showrunners. The project, co-produced by Lionsgate Television and Fox Entertainment Studios, was recently picked up with a 12-episode straight-to-series order for the 2026-27 season.
The Interrogator centers on former MI6 agent Conrad Henry (Fry) and his elite team. When conventional methods have failed, Henry’s quirky charm, superior intellect and mind-bending behavioral maneuvers make him the only man able to lockpick the minds of the world’s most dangerous criminals.
The pilot script was written by Fry, with revisions from Matt Pyken as well as Bill Harper whose contribution was considered key in securing the greenlight. Dworkin and Beattie will executive produce alongside Fry, Harper, Pyken as well as Paul McGuigan, who will direct, Anonymous Content, Neil Burger, and Likely Story’ Anthony Bregman and Miriam Mintz.
This marks a reunion of Dwarkin and Beattie who were partnered for a decade and a half, working together on such series as American Horror Story, Star Trek: Discovery and Criminal Minds. They co-created the Scream anthology series for MTV and The Crossing for ABC and most recently served as co-creators/showrunners on Dan Brown’s The Lost Symbol for Peacock and as consulting producers on Season 1 of Netflix’s hit YA drama series Outer Banks.
Individually, Dworkin wrote the horror feature Inground, starring Alexandra Daddario, directed by Aaron Katz and produced by Scott Free, which starts production in April. He recently wrapped as a consulting producer on the Apple TV/Legendary series Monarch. Dworkin is repped by Adventure Media and Stuart Rosenthal of Goodman Genow Schenkman Smelkinson & Christopher.
Beattie recently was a consulting producer on season 5 of Outer Banks and on ABC’s Alaska Daily. He is repped by Verve, Adventure Media, and Stuart Rosenthal of Goodman Genow Schenkman Smelkinson & Christopher.
