'The Hunting Party' Apprehends Its First Escapee in Series Premiere Images

2 weeks ago 6

The Hunting Party begins the hunt earlier than originally planned. NBC announced that the pilot episode will now air in five days on Sunday, January 19. The series premiere introduces the characters as a small team of investigators from different law enforcement agencies come together to recapture escaped convicts. The network released images from the series premiere showing the team being formed and wasting no time jumping into the deep end. The first target in The Hunting Party Season 1, Episode 1, "Pilot/Richard Harris," is a killer named Richard Harris (Tobias Jelinek). Episodes are named after the target. Below is the logline for the premiere, which previews the beginning of the adventure.

"When a massive explosion at a top-secret prison known as The Pit allows notorious serial killer Richard Harris to escape, disgraced FBI agent Bex Henderson is called back into action to hunt him down before he kills again."

'The Hunting Party' Begins the Hunt in Season 1, Episode 1.

The images above tease a fast-paced pilot as The Pit is compromised and violent offenders escape. Among the escapees is Harris, a killer who manages to scare someone even when doing the most mundane things like eating or embroidery. The team makes each other's acquaintances as Rebecca "Bex" Henderson (Melissa Roxburgh), an ex-FBI officer, meets her teammates. Ryan Hassani (Patrick Sabongui) is a CIA officer, while Shane Florence (Josh McKenzie) is a former soldier who works at the prison. Also on the team are Oliver Dell (Nick Wechsler), Bex's ex-partner in the FBI, and Jennifer Morales (Sara Garcia), an intel officer and a major in the army. The team has an operation base, but their job takes them all over the country, flushing out the escapees wherever they may be hidden. However, in most cases, the actions committed by the escapees call out to the team.

JJ Bailey and Jake Coburn write and executive produce The Hunting Party, serving as co-showrunners. Thor Freudenthal directs and executive produces, and Keto Shimizu writes and executive produces. The show's pilot episode airs on Sunday, January 19, at 7 p.m. ET after the NFL divisional play-off between the Philadelphia Eagles and Los Angeles Rams and NBC Nightly News. An encore episode will be aired in the original premiere slot, and new episodes will continue on February 10 on the regular date and time.

Tune in to NBC this Sunday, January 19, to catch the series premiere. Until then, watch Roxburgh on Manifest now streaming on Netflix.
