I've tested many of the best vacuums on the market. Vacuums that can sense dirt, vacuums with lasers, vacuums that are light enough to wave comfortably above your head without breaking a sweat. But every time a deals event rolls around (and I've covered quite a few of these now), I always find myself doing a little check around for Henry canister vacuum deals. I've never found one worth writing about... until now.

Head to Argos this Black Friday and the Henry Corded Cylinder vacuum is down to £99, down from a list price of £160. And look, I know it's the blue version rather than the famous red, but that's still an absolute bargain for a stone-cold cleaning icon.

This is the Henry the model I used in one of my first house-shares. Looking back, a corded canister vacuum was a wildly inappropriate choice for that location, because the house was about 80% stairs. (If you, too, have lots of stairs, you might want to head to my general Black Friday vacuum deals roundup for some more easily manoeuvrable alternatives.) While I didn't enjoy lugging it around, I couldn't fault the Henry's cleaning power – it was about a decade old at the time, and being used in a shared house of 20-somethings, it's saying something that it was still chugging happily along.

Since then, a few other iterations of the Henry have been released, although they're all broadly the same idea. Some of those are also discounted for Black Friday:
