DC’s new Green Lantern series is almost here, introducing an exciting new team dynamic for the universe’s most renowned intergalactic law enforcement agency. Now, fans can only hope DC stays true to this bold new direction—one that already looks incredibly promising, thanks to an electrifying sneak peek in the preview.
...proving that the Green Lanterns are at their best when united...
On February 12, 2025, Green Lantern Corps #1 by Jeremy Adams, Morgan Hampton, Fernando Pasarin, Oclair Albert, and Arif Prianto will hit comic book shelves, kicking off this highly anticipated new GL series. Until then, DC has treated fans to a sneak peek at the inaugural issue with a four-page preview that teases exciting things to come.
The issue opens with Green Lantern John Stewart making a self-admittedly dramatic entrance, declaring that intergalactic criminal Kanjar Ro is under arrest. However, tensions quickly escalate when Kanjar calls on his goons to attack. Fortunately, John isn’t alone.

Having unleashed his goons on John, Kanjar flees to his escape spaceship, which will allow him to travel at hyperspeed and evade the Green Lantern’s capture. Confident that his plan is foolproof with John busy fighting off the alien goons, Kanjar laughs to himself, referring to John as he says, “You should have brought… back...up.” However, just as he finishes speaking, John appears, halting Kanjar’s escape as he declares, “You’re under arrest by the authority of the Green Lantern Corps.”
In the background, dozens of Green Lanterns are shown fending off the alien goons, revealing how John was able to break free from the fight and resume his pursuit of Kanjar. This scene sets the tone for the core theme of the series: the Green Lanterns working together as a team. Among the notable Lanterns in the background are Guy Gardner and Kyle Rayner, along with a host of other unnamed Lanterns. The implication is that there are even more Lanterns present, further building anticipation for the full release of the issue.

What makes it so noteworthy to see the Green Lanterns truly embrace the Corps aspect of their name and work together as a team is that, typically, Green Lantern narratives focus on just one Lantern at a time—or sometimes a duo—rather than showcasing a multi-member Green Lantern team, as we see in the preview. This approach allows readers to see just how effective the Corps can be when they operate at their peak as a multi-member team. John and the other Lanterns claim an exceptionally quick and clean victory over their targets, proving that the Lanterns are at their best when united.
This portrayal of the team dynamic is the type of storytelling the Corps truly deserves, highlighting their potential as a streamlined and efficient force for good. By focusing on multiple Lanterns rather than just one or two, the story stays true to the Green Lantern Corps' identity, rather than artificially splitting them up. With the Green Lanterns coming together as a team, this is an exciting time for fans, offering something fresh compared to the typical solo stories. Now, we can only hope that DC stays true to this vision of presenting the Green Lanterns as a cohesive team as the series progresses.

Given that the Green Lantern Corps consists of at least 7,200 members, with typically two assigned per sector, there’s no shortage of Lanterns who could be featured or introduced in the series. However, due to the vast scope of the Corps, it’s clear that not every member can be covered. So, the question becomes: which Green Lanterns can fans expect to see the most of in this series? As of now, synopses for the series have confirmed that John Stewart, Jessica Cruz, Kyle Rayner, Guy Gardner, Simon Baz, Sojourner Mullein, Kilowog, and Keli Quintela will be among the most prominently featured. Fans can, therefore, look forward to seeing at least one of their favorite Green Lanterns in this series.
