For example, Mark Anderson was quick to form bonds with the rest of the guys, to the point that when he shared he’d be leaving, there were men who were moved to tears. Chock, on the other hand, hasn’t been able to build many connections with the rest of the cast, focusing his efforts elsewhere.

While Chock could be building relationships that will stick with him after The Golden Bachelorette comes to an end, he’s been stand-offish and insular, isolating himself unnecessarily and making the other guys wary of him. Though it’s possible Chock’s social skills aren’t up to par with the rest of the cast, the difference between his relationship with Joan and the potential friendships he could make with the other guys is staggering. Seeing him operate in two different elements is odd for Bachelor Nation, giving viewers pause. Chock could be seeing The Golden Bachelorette as a competition, but at what cost?

Despite knowing that Chock has had some red flags following him, Joan seems to be trusting her instincts about him. Still, it’s possible that rather than getting engaged at the end of the season, Joan and Chock will commit to each other and see where things go without a ring.

Many are worried that if Joan and Chock choose to get engaged, their relationship will blow up in their faces as they move forward, much like The Golden Bachelor’s Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist. Bachelor Nation seems hopeful that Joan winds up happy, and for that to happen, it seems imperative she and Chock don’t end the season with a proposal. The Golden Bachelorette finale should end with Joan and her final choice deciding to get to know each other in their new relationship, with marriage in the very distant future.
