The First Trailer for ‘Spider-Noir’ Teases a Comic Book Thriller

2 weeks ago 13

The time has come to step into the gritty, 1930s world of Prime Video’s Spider-Noir.

Spinning out of the Spider-Verse films, the series stars Nicolas Cage as Ben Reilly, a Spider-Man variant operating as a private eye known as “the Spider” in his dimension’s version of New York. He’s not had the best of times, but with someone trying to whack local crime boss Silvermane (Brendan Gleeson), it’s on Reilly to find the culprit and figure out how it all connects back to his own past. His investigation also sees him brush shoulders with 1930s versions of Spider-Man staples like Robbie Robertson (Lamorne Morris), Cat Hardy (Li Jun Li), and Flint Marko (Jack Huston).

On a visual level, the show’s innovation is that viewers will get to see it in two different ways. Along with the colorized version, there’s a black-and-white edition meant to fit with the series’ noir tone. It adds a cool bit of flavor to the world and probably helps ensure some rewatches down the line for anyone who wants to spot differences and see which of the two versions holds up. Here’s the color version of the trailer, for good measure:

Spider-Noir will come to Prime Video in both color and black-and-white on May 27, with weekly drops on MGM+ starting May 25.
