We’re on the eve of a new Marvel show, and the House of Mouse has started allowing press who’ve seen all six episodes of Ironheart to share how they think. While the early verdicts swing pretty wildly between positive and mild shrugs at best, there’s also a lot of hints that the series’ back half includes a pretty wild climax.
While there does seem to be a wide range of opinions, it seems like most of whether or not Ironheart lands with people clicks with its flow, with many critics pointing to the pacing as a sticking issue for the series (perhaps the reason why Disney and Marvel have decided to split its release into two chunks of three episodes, rather than weekly). Even among the negative critiques however, there’s plenty of praise for the main stars in Dominique Thorne, Alden Ehrenreich, and Anthony Ramos–and an a pretty consistent note that, no matter how the rest of the series pans out, the finale goes to some intriguing places.

Most interesting thing about Ironheart is how uninterested it is about asking if Riri has a mantle to live up to. It’s the right choice and tbh, I watched wishing this thread continued across other projects.
Anthony Ramos is fine, interesting, surprisingly optimistic ending.

#Ironheart is one of my favorite Marvel shows. It blends so much of what we love about the MCU so seamlessly with fantastic characters, performances, and style. Goes places I didn't expect, links in wild ways, but always keeps its dynamic, flawed, lead character front and center. pic.twitter.com/udIcCXAEt5

#Ironheart have some fun moments but it’s never interesting enough nor it manages to stick the landing.
Bland characters and a super uninteresting plot that doesn’t knows where it wants to go. A disappointment overall. pic.twitter.com/pzereKvpb5

The first three episodes of #Ironheart are out tomorrow, and your resident Marvel cynic is here to say: it’s quite good! It’s a shame the series has been in flux, because Disney+ has something great on their hands. Dominique Thorne is pure dynamite. Alden Ehrenreich is… pic.twitter.com/JNGzBEAw64

#Ironheart is really fun at times but feels (in my humble opinion) like it’s desperately in need of a soul. The magic vs. machine theme is conceptually intriguing but feels like it’s lacking here. I’m ambilavent because I didn’t hate any part but I didn’t love anything either pic.twitter.com/W6HC8DYIMA

IRONHEART warmed my heart. Dominique Thorne brings Riri Williams to life with layers that make her so much more. She's still our incredibly smart girl from Chicago but there is a lot of depth to Riri's story and the show has a truly emotional arc and an iconic vibe to it. pic.twitter.com/8SWLGuUXqn

I've seen all six episodes of #Ironheart, and it's not good. It becomes obvious very quickly why Marvel decided to dump this on D+ 3 eps at a time. Can't fault the cast, but none of them are given much to work with. Some of the action scenes are passable and the finale is by far… pic.twitter.com/UxTD7SvDCu

I watched all six episodes of #Ironheart and it deserves your attention. It's better than most recent Marvel Studios theatrical releases and is one of the rare good MCU TV shows. Dominique Thorne is a star, peak production values, no idea what it's leading to but I'd like more.🧵 pic.twitter.com/tjgfsiDjtg

#Ironheart is a bit of a mess—but it means well. Dominique Thorne is great, grounding the story with real emotion as Riri builds something new from grief. Rushed pacing and inconsistent narrative weigh it down, leaving a series that reaches for greatness but never quite takes off pic.twitter.com/IxRcg68R28

#Ironheart doesn't break any new ground with its story (and the less said about The Hood's crew, the better). However, it's an enjoyable ride buoyed by stellar performances from Dominique Thorne, Alden Ehrenreich, Anthony Ramos, and Lyric Ross. DON'T MISS THE FINALE! 👀 pic.twitter.com/otgDMsqP0d
