Another day, another course of radio silence from Bethesda. With last week celebrating the eighth anniversary of the day The Elder Scrolls VI was officially announced, we are fast approaching a decade of waiting with no sign of the next installment in the beloved RPG series. Not only that, but with the most recent mainline entry, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, launching way back in 2011, many of us have been waiting for what feels like an entire lifetime for the story to continue.

However, with Bethesda head Todd Howard himself revealing that The Elder Scrolls VI was announced too soon during an interview back in April, it is starting to feel like the next installment in The Elder Scrolls franchise will never be released, especially as we have no cinematic trailer or release window to look forward to.

Things got even worse for Bethesda during June's Summer Game Fest event, as despite multiple trailers beginning with 'Bethesda Presents', none of them were dedicated to The Elder Scrolls VI. The wait has been so long, in fact, that fans recently pointed out that the official teaser trailer for TES VI, which was shown back in 2018, is also starting to look outdated, which doesn't fare well for the game itself.

Nevertheless, fans are still excited, with many having been a lover of The Elder Scrolls franchise since it began way back in 1994 with The Elder Scrolls: Arena. As such, regular discussions over what The Elder Scrolls VI could feature take place over on Reddit, and it was over on r/TESVI that fans recently spoke about the potential title.

With previous installments such as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim having full titles, as opposed to just the name and number of the series, we can expect that the same will be the case for The Elder Scrolls VI. However, its potential title is just a part of a very long list of things we have no idea about. That being said, one Reddit user thinks they have it in the bag, saying, "Title is definitely "The Elder Scrolls VI: Iliac". Change my mind."

In The Elder Scrolls universe, Iliac Bay, or sometimes referred to as Starfall Bay, is a bay that intrudes into the western end of the continent of Tamriel. It is the primary setting of The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall and has been home to many wars over the years.

The user does not claim why they believe The Elder Scrolls VI will include Iliac, as we have had no official confirmation of the areas set to appear in the game. However, it did begin a discussion with fellow fans who were happy enough to share their own guesses.

Three characters look at the Gold Road in Elder Scrolls Online.

"The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel," another user guessed, racking up 160 upvotes. "It draws a very nice parallel to Daggerfall (a game that focused on the Iliac region but primarily High Rock, and was named after the capital city of that region), and if they're going for a sort of modern day Daggerfall that focuses more strongly on Hammerfell with TESVI, then the logical answer is the capital city of Hammerfell, Sentinel. It's a lot easier to say and more recognizable than Iliac or Adamantia or any other name that I've seen proposed."

In response to the potential Iliac suggestion, another simply said, "Could be, but for the name, I think they will go with something story-driven like they did with Oblivion."

With answers ranging from every word in the dictionary, it is safe to say that the options are endless. However, we can only hope that the full name of The Elder Scrolls VI, alongside a trailer and a release window, will finally be revealed soon.
