As I'm scrolling through my Steam library, it can often feel like a massive marketplace of its own. While the storefront is full of games to buy, my library is full of games I need to play. That includes a ton of multiplayer experiences, often framed around a device like horror or survival. Those are typically the most popular genres to incorporate, but there's so much more out there.

In this case, you can find a game on Steam now that hits the right horror notes, but in a way you don't see very often. It melds several popular mechanics together and evokes the feeling of occult-style horror like The Conjuring, all in the same package.

We Are So Dead Board

We Are So Dead is available on Steam Early Access now from developer Real Players, and you aren't prepared for its premise. The idea is that one person in the game starts dead right off the bat.

After death, you become a ghost and are able to see other spirits, including the demon (which changes every round) that's tormenting and killing your co-op team of living humans. You'll need to communicate with your party through a Ouija board as well as other methods like flickering lights to guide them to safety, and seal the demon to win the round.

Here's how the developers describe it: "A co-op seance horror game where one of you died first, and only you can see what's killing the others. Your only voice is a Ouija board your friends keep misreading. Guide them down 9 floors of a haunted house and banish the demon before sunrise. 2-6 players."

It supports two to six players because you'll need to have at least one dead and one alive player at all times, as you attempt to explore nine floors and seal all the demons. If you end up dying over the course of the round, you'll become a ghost and can subsequently still win through your team.

We Are So Dead Attic

Originally, the game was going to come out with a 1.0 edition, but after reaching 100,000 wishlists, the developer decided to pivot and grow with Early Access instead.

If you play these types of games on Steam, it's worth a wishlist. As the creator notes: "In a market flooded with the next friendslop and dopamine rush (which can be fun for sure, but we've seen that before), I can't wait for you to all to experience something that personally - feels like the most real game I've played in a while."
