‘The Burial’ Writer and Tony Award Winner Doug Wright Signs With Anonymous Content (EXCLUSIVE)

Doug Wright has signed with Anonymous Content for representation.

Playwright, screenwriter and librettist, Wright, most recently wrote “The Burial,” directed by Maggie Betts and starring Jamie Foxx and Tommy Lee Jones. The legal drama premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival before its release on Prime Video.

He is currently co-writing the book with Will Powers for the Broadway revival of “Damn Yankees,” directed and choreographed by Sergio Trujillo and slated to premiere on Broadway in Spring 2027.

Wright is also known for his play “I Am My Own Wife”, which earned him the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the Tony Award for Best New Play in 2004. His most recent play, “Good Night, Oscar,” premiered on Broadway following a run at Chicago’s Goodman Theatre.

Earlier in his career, Wright won an Obie Award for his play “Quills,” which he subsequently adapted for the screen. The film was named Best Picture by the National Board of Review and received three Academy Award nominations. Wright’s screenplay earned a Golden Globe nomination and received the Paul Selvin Award from the Writers Guild of America.

His extensive theater credits also include: “Grey Gardens,” Disney’s stage adaptation of “The Little Mermaid,” and “Hands on a Hardbody,” for which he received a Drama Desk Award nomination.

Wright has contributed screenwriting and rewrite work on major studio releases for Sony Pictures, Twentieth Century Fox and The Weinstein Company. He also penned the television special “Tony Bennett: An American Classic” for director Rob Marshall, which earned seven Emmy Awards.
