The Blood of Dawnwalker players will reach several points throughout Coen's journey that require making important decisions about how to proceed forward, with some decisions having dramatic consequences for Coen, his companions, and his enemies. One such decision comes during an adventure with Coen's dear friend (and potential romantic interest), Anca, as they reach the climax of their tumultuous mission to find The Font.

After completing Anca and Coen's mission into her past at the Convent, Anca will begin researching the books you've found and will eventually learn about the existence of The Font of Life as the beginning of the "Where Old Devils Lie" quest. This will send the two on a new journey to uncover this mysterious Font and eventually enter the haunted ruins where mysteries await discovery.

How To Find The Font In The Blood Of Dawnwalker

After making your way deep into the ruins, Coen and Anca will figure out that finding the font will require venturing even deeper underground, which marks the beginning of the "Stronger Than Achilles" quest. They will then be challenged to complete several trials, which are essentially increasingly different combat encounters. Once all enemies have been defeated in each trial, the pair will finally enter a chamber room with glyphs on the wall after learning the true and sinister nature of The Font of Life.

Once ready, players will need to make a decision about how to proceed, and while Coen has the option to question Anca for her opinion, the choice ultimately comes down to you. Each choice results in a distinctly different outcome, both in terms of narrative and rewards, so you'll want to choose wisely.

What Happens If You Use The Font?

There are two different ways to use The Font of Life in The Blood of Dawnwalker, but what you choose will depend on your goals and intentions moving forward. Coen will have the option to use The Font himself or allow Anca to use it to cleanse herself of her troubled past.

Using The Font for Coen will ease his mind and cleanse his soul of his past shortcomings and perceived failures, and will also reward players with a unique Perk in the Witchcraft skill tree, literally called Font of Life. The Font of Life perk grants automatic passive health regeneration during the daytime, and is pretty useful if you've found yourself struggling to stay alive during combat encounters. While Anca tells Coen that she's relieved that he used it instead of her, she does seem a bit disappointed.

On the other hand, allowing Anca to use The Font will result in her feeling completely rejuvenated, giving her a fresh outlook on life despite her initially feeling that The Font was a cursed temptation, and her past at the Convent and with Witchcraft no longer haunts her. However, choosing this option will not unlock the Font of Life perk for Coen, and there are no additional rewards or benefits to doing so.

What Happens If You Destroy The Font?

The alternative option to letting Coen or Anca use The Font of Life is to destroy the thing entirely, which is a decision that both characters are enthusiastic about after learning of its cursed nature. Destroying The Font results in both Coen and Anca feeling slightly reluctant, but ultimately happy that they did the right thing, even if it may have seemed like a waste of their efforts.

In terms of rewards, destroying The Font means Coen will also not unlock the Font of Life Perk, but will result in a unique piece of legendary gear that you won't find anywhere else in the game. After pushing the Font off the platform, Coen and Anca find the Ancient Greaves in a bag that was hidden underneath The Font.

The Ancient Greaves are a pair of legendary heavy trousers that increase Witchcraft Ability Damage, Activation Charge Restoration from Block, Passive Activation Charge Restoration, and Magical Damage Reduction.

You Should Destroy The Font In The Blood Of Dawnwalker

Ultimately, while The Font of Life Perk is an interesting buff, it isn't really all that useful in the mid- to late-game considering just how many other healing alternatives there are on offer. Not only are there plenty of consumable options, but there are perks and skills in the Witchcraft tree such as Unholy Vitality, Soul Stigma, Frugal Witchcraft, and Potent Blood that make Font of Life more or less useless.

Further, outside making Anca feel good about herself, there aren't many benefits to letting her use The Font either, even in a narrative sense later down the road. No matter what Coen does, Anca isn't really interested in having a long-term relationship, and you can pursue a romance with her after the quest ends regardless of your decision with The Font.

That's why destroying The Font makes the most sense: you'll get a nice pair of legendary pants that could very well last you until the endgame, assuming you improve them as you level up, and both Coen and Anca are okay with the decision because of the nature of The Font's power. Ultimately, destroying The Font of Life in The Blood of Dawnwalker is the most prudent decision if you want the best story outcome and rewards.
