The Block viewers turn on Mimi: Fans blow up married star's Instagram calling her a 'home wrecker' over 'flirtgate' scandal

One of The Block contestants at the centre of the show's dramatic 'flirtgate' scandal has been savaged on social media.

In explosive scenes on Monday's episode, contestant Kylie Barker dramatically flew home to Cairns after her husband Brad was overheard 'flirting' with fellow contestant Mimi Belperio.

In the aftermath of Kylie's shock exit, Mimi, on Tuesday's episode at first claimed she had no idea Kylie had left, before claiming she didn't think Brad's comments were even flirtatious.

But is seems Australia is not on Mimi's side, with legions of Block fans flocking to her social media to slam the 'home wrecker'.

One follower urged producers to release audio of the flirtatious footage that aired on Monday.

'Release the audio tapes! There was more than just flirting going on, dirty dawgs,' they wrote referencing Brad and Mimi's dalliance.

While it was Brad who bore the brunt of repercussions, one Blockhead argued that Mimi was not blameless in the situation. 

'Takes two, what was Mimi doing over there talking in her baby voice and drinking at midnight where was her husband?' they asked. 

'Why was she not working on her own house or at home with her husband.'

It wasn't just Mimi's alleged flirtation with Brad that drew the ire of fans, with many pointing out Mimi's performance, or lack thereof, on the show.

'Mimi would have to be the least committed block contestant I’ve ever seen on this show,' one follower said. 'Does she do anything?'

Another blasted the controversial contestant in a lengthy tirade.

'Mimi publicly shames her husband for having emotions, threatens to leave, lies about the sisters not telling they're flippers, sleeps all night when she's supposed to be helping her husband, gets angry at him if they don't finish a room (despite him being the only one up all night trying),' they wrote.

'And now she's flirting with another contestants husband, or more importantly her friend's husband! Wow.' 

While viewers pulled no punches when it came to Mimi, they appeared to have sympathy for her husband Kristian.

Kristian stood by his wife on Tuesday's episode saying: 'I don't think Mimi should have any regrets about going out and having a good time.'

'In terms of the comment, if Mimi didn't feel uncomfortable about what was said then I've got no reason to.'

One follower accused Mimi of not respecting her husband, writing: 'Kristian deserves so much better. Some one that respects him. 

Poor Kristian,' sympathised another. 'I hope as he’s watching this he realises he’s better off on his own!'  

The scandal began when Mimic went alone to Brad and Kylie's home for a casual drink. 

While she and Brad chatted, Kylie napped nearby - and Brad by his own admission crossed a line.

'I said some pretty inappropriate comments. I was flirting with Mimi… Kylie overheard them, and understandably she's quite upset,' he later explained.

During a subsequent phone debrief with her mother, Kylie revealed exactly what went on during the conversation between her husband and Mimi.

'Flirting, plus talking really inappropriately. How many f**king chances have I given him? Time after time,' she told her mum.

'Oh, you know I'd follow your OnlyFans,' the electrician and plumber allegedly told Mimi, within earshot of his 'napping' wife. 

Kylie the immediately left the show only to return at the climax of Tuesday's episode setting the stage for a fiery showdown on Wednesday.
