A builder from The Block has revealed what couple Jesse Maguire and Paige Beechey are really like amid a huge backlash from viewers.

The controversial couple have been branded the 'villains' of the 2024 season and have come under fire from fans for their arguments on the renovation show.

Many viewers have taken issue with the couple's 'meltdowns' on screen, but one builder has revealed what it was really like working with the pair.

Zak Sydenham of ZS Custom Builds jumped to the couple's defence amid the onslaught of criticism, saying he had a lot of 'fun' after working closely with them.

The tradie also appeared to take a swipe at how the couple have been edited on the Channel Nine program.

'Despite what you see, [filming The Block] was full of laughs, shenanigans, and an overall enjoyable experience,' he gushed in an Instagram post.

'Thank you for trusting us to bring your ideas to life.'

The builder went on to admit that while the couple 'had their moments', it was never as bad as it appeared on screen.

A builder from The Block has revealed what couple Jesse Maguire and Paige Beechey are really like amid a huge backlash from viewers

'They definitely had their moments, as did every couple, but it was never as bad as it's being portrayed [in the edit],' he told Yahoo Lifestyle.

'Obviously, what has been shown has happened and those conversations [took place], but there has been a whole lot that hasn't been shown that makes it seem like their reactions and comments are way out of line.'

His comments come after it was revealed that Jesse and Paige will throw down their shovels and shockingly exit the program in week five.

An insider revealed that the engaged couple, who are the youngest team this season, will leave the show to save their relationship, reported Yahoo Lifestyle.

'Jesse and Paige asked themselves a real question: Is the chance of making money worth risking their relationship?' a source told the publication.

'Channel Nine gave them the go-ahead to leave the show after some heated exchanges on their hot microphones.

'It was a really tough decision, but both Jesse and Paige believe Australia will embrace their decision positively.'

The Insider went on to say fights between Jesse, 29, and Paige, 27, became 'pretty toxic' toward the end and tested the limits of their relationship.

Viewers have been critical of the pair ever since Paige went on a foul-mouthed rant during an episode last week.

The controversial couple have been branded the 'villains' of the 2024 season and have come under fire from fans for their arguments on the renovation show

She let loose on architect Julian Brenchley in recent scenes, telling him she 'didn't give a f**k about his opinion' following an argument about the placement of her and partner Jesse's main bedroom.

It wasn't long before fans of the show took to X, previously known as Twitter, to slam Paige for her on-air antics and call out her 'childish behaviour'.

'Little Miss Princess Paige has never had anyone say no to her. Time to grow up cupcake and function in a grown-ups world,' they wrote.

Another disgruntled viewer said: 'Paige is a petulant child. Really thinks people are rude (when they're not), stomps her feet over everything and has now slagged off 2 sponsors. Not smart.'

'So....I watched The Block an hour late and my one takeaway is this,' a third began.

One renovation enthusiast likened the controversial contestant to Chris Lilley's aloof high school character Ja'mie King.

Zak Sydenham of ZS Custom Builds (pictured with Paige) has jumped to the couple's defence amid the onslaught of criticism, saying he had a lot of 'fun' after working closely with them

'I'm getting Ja'mie vibes from Paige on #theblock,' they wrote on a pic of the popular character.

'I think Paige has ruined my block experience,' another said. 'I'll watch on Sundays for room reveals.'

The current series of The Block was filmed earlier this year in the popular Victorian tourism hotspot Phillip Island.

Daily Mail Australia revealed a Channel Nine-owned company purchased Island Cove Villas on the Victorian Island for a whopping $9.5million.

Situated two-and-a-half hours from Melbourne, the site currently features nine homes, a communal pool, a BBQ pavilion, tennis court and a children's playground.
