A cinematic obsessive with the filmic palate of a starving raccoon, Rob London will watch pretty much anything once. With a mind like a steel trap, he's an endless fount of movie and TV trivia, borne from a misspent youth of watching monster movies on TV, perusing the sun-faded goods at the local video rental shop, and staining his fingers with ink from the Video Movie Guide. Areas of interest include science fiction, film noir, horror flicks, '70s disaster pictures, Bond movies, '90s action, giant robots, dinosaurs, super heroes, and the exuberantly schlocky output of Cannon Films. He also enjoys both Star Trek and Star Wars when they're good, and maybe even more when they're bad. As a Canadian, he also has a vested interest in Canadian movies and TV shows, especially the cheesier ones dubbed "Canuxploitation."

An expert on Marvel Comics, he has also written for the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe, and is a member of the Marvel Research Team. He can frequently be found pontificating on comic-book continuity or bemoaning the misfortunes of the Toronto Maple Leafs on his Twitter account.

The Bear's Matty Matheson is getting out of the kitchen for his new film, but he's still cooking up something spicy. The Canadian chef and actor has executive-produced Born to Lose, a new biker drama that will premiere at San Jose, California's world-famous Cinequest Film and Creativity Festival next week. Collider is proud to present an exclusive first teaser of Matheson introducing the film, which he excitedly describes as "white trash Citizen Kane."

Matheson also co-stars in the film as sleazy used car dealer Bucky, the proprietor and pitchman of Bucky's Bitchin' Autos. He introduces the film in-character while dressed in full cowboy regalia, from ten-gallon hat to bolo tie, and proceeds to sell the movie like it's a late-model Buick with great mileage. It's got everything you want: bikers, strippers, and drugs; country music, bare-knuckle boxing, and muscle cars; and beautiful ladies and "some real ugly-ass dudes." But most importantly, it has choppers, choppers, choppers! And while critics haven't seen the movie yet, Matheson asserts that he's "ready for his god-dang Oscar." You'll have to see for yourself when the movie premieres at Cinequest on March 14.

What Is 'Born to Lose' About?

Set in Paducah, Kentucky, Born to Lose centers around Andy Logan (Dylan Arnold, Oppenheimer), a young biker and low-level drug dealer who's struggling to deal with his father's complicated legacy — which includes his extensive debts to Roddy (Shane Callahan, Dopesick), a local strip club owner. While he memorializes his father by restoring his vintage Panhead bike, he's given a one-month deadline to pay Roddy back... or else. Born to Lose also stars Sarah Pidgeon (Love Story) as Tabitha, Andy's country musician love interest; James Le Gros (Drugstore Cowboy) as Jed Duncan, a veteran who becomes Andy's reluctant mentor; and Ambyr Childers (The Master) as Julie Logan, Andy's troubled sister.

Born to Lose is directed by Joseph Zentil, making his feature directorial debut; he has previously directed several short films and the music video for Kreayshawn's "Gucci Gucci." He wrote the film with Pierce Csurgo and Eric J. Kinsey. Csurgo and Zentil produce for Strange Customs, alongside Tom Putnam and Brett Woodall of Commonwealth Creative Entertainment; Kinsey will co-produce, while Matheson and Michele Silva-Neto of Cretney Williams Investments executive produce. Says Csurgo:

"Joe's obsession with vintage motorcycles gave us the perfect throughline, but the story we really wanted to tell was about fathers, sons, and the weight of inherited identity. That is where we found our common ground, and what drove every decision we made together."

Born to Lose will have its world premiere at Cinequest on Saturday, March 14; no wide release date has yet been announced. Stay tuned to Collider for future updates.
