The Bay actress Georgia Scholes reveals she was left in tears after being 'upskirted' during a night out with her sister. 

Georgia, 25, had headed out in Manchester on Saturday with her sibling Ale, 22, to watch her friend box, but soon noticed two men behaving suspiciously. 

Recalling the horrifying incident, she wrote on Instagram: 'Just after 8.30pm me and my sister left a restaurant in Spinningfields. 

'On our way up the steps back up to Deansgate, two males followed us up the stairs, weirdly very, very close - I mean basically should to shoulder close. 

'Which at the time I thought was odd, especially as me and my sister were the only two people on the staircase. So why were they so close to us?

'They walked in front and I said to my sister that something wasn't right. One of the males had his phone in his hand, held down by his leg, angled towards us. My heart quite literally sank.

'I walked around the back of them and saw the male's phone was recording us the whole time walking up the stairs. It then made sense why they now walked up directly touching/ behind us up the stairs.

'He'd recorded up my dress.'

Georgia said she confronted the man, who quickened his pace and ignored calls from the sisters to delete the footage.

The actress said she and her sister decided to follow one of the men and went to ask security guards and members of the public for help contacting the police, but no one came to their assistance.

Eventually a bouncer at Be At One helped detain the male until police arrived, who then tried to locate the other male who had the footage.

Georgia and her sister were contacted at 1.30am by the police to let her know that both men were in custody.

She said: 'Our night was over, tarnished and ruined... sad. I didn't get a single picture of me being Georgia, having fun and being with no responsibilities other than me. 

'Sad because my faith in humanity has gone, faith in where I come from and my people has gone.

'Sad because I just wanted to have a nice night. Sad at how scary it is that even when sober you're so, so vulnerable. No one is safe.'

Fans wrote in the comments: 'That's horrendous. I'm sending so much love to you and your sister.'

'Oh, Georgia. I’m really sorry this happened to you both. Sending love.' 

Upskirting became a specific criminal offence in England and Wales in 2019 after a high-profile campaign by activist Gina Martin after she was targeted at a music festival. 

The Daily Mail has contacted Greater Manchester Police for comment. 

Georgia is best known for playing Erin Fischer in the popular ITV crime drama series, The Bay. 

She joined the cast during the show's third series and has appeared in multiple seasons through 2024 and 2025.
