The Batman 2 Poster Teases Sebastian Stan's Two-Face Ahead Of First Look

On Instagram, @odimi_ teased Two-Face's The Batman - Part II role with a fan poster.

In the DC art, Robert Pattinson's Batman can be seen standing in a snowy Gotham City. That element was confirmed by Reeves when he shared the first camera tests for the Batmobile in the DC movie, and snow was present. While that may or may not hint at another Batman villain, Mr. Freeze, showing up, Stan's Harvey Dent is the man of the hour. With a scratched "heads" side of a coin, The Batman - Part II fan poster perfectly sets the hype as high as possible for the villain's debut.

Sebastian Stan's Reported Two-Face Role Is Perfect For The Batman Universe

The Batman was more of a gritty crime story than a full-on superhero movie. In that sense, few DC villains would be as perfect for this grounded version of Gotham as Two-Face. Harvey can be part of the franchise's exploration of Batman as a symbol for good, not just vengeance. Without a costume, he takes to the streets to make Gotham a better place, which is needed after the Riddler flooded the city and the Penguin took control of Gotham's underworld in his HBO series. There is a lot of cleaning up to do.

All of that can help Pattinson's Bruce Wayne create his playboy persona, being more like the comics and less like the rageful and distant Bruce seen in The Batman. Then, as Two-Face, Harvey's villain turn would be another major moment that sweeps Batman off his feet and changes the game. A symbol for good in this gritty Gotham would be turned into the worst possible shadow of what it once was. Bruce and Batman would then be pushed even further in the direction of being the symbol of hope that Gotham City needs.

Harvey Dent Needs To Be The Star Of The Batman 2 (Not Two-Face)

While The Batman - Part II fan poster teases Two-Face's transformation, as does a lot of the fan art that has been shared online since reports of Stan's involvement with the DC movie emerged, it would actually be for the best if Harvey Dent spent the entirety of The Batman - Part II or most of the film as himself, not his villain counterpart. The reason is simple, as it would be more helpful for Bruce Wayne's transformation if Harvey were firmly established as a cornerstone of the good in this universe first, setting an example, before his fall from grace.

With plans remaining in place for The Batman - Part II, making it a full trilogy for Pattinson's Batman, Stan could easily return as Two-Face in the third movie. Harvey as a character has not been explored all that much in live-action before he becomes Two-Face, and The Batman - Part II offers the chance to do so, as Johansson's Gilda could take on his villain role in the film, similarly to how the character plays out in Batman: The Long Halloween's comics and animated movies. The Batman - Part II needs Harvey Dent.
