I have thick, practically waist-length red hair. When I wash it in the shower, it sheds—not a concerning amount, but because my hair is often in a bun, a braid, or slightly snarled in the back from wearing a coat or tangling in the wind, the pieces that fall get stuck and all come out when I shampoo and condition.
Like many people with long hair, I used to swirl the detached strands into a circle and stick them to the shower wall, where they would stay (forgotten) until my next shower.
I had convinced myself this was a better idea than letting all that hair slide down and clog the drain. If you've ever spent even a second fishing a slimy clump of hair out of a drain, you know it's a task you want to avoid at all costs if possible.
But thanks to a must-have $15 shower accessory, I no longer have to do that! This compact tool is a game-changer—not just for preventing clogs, but for keeping my shower routine stress-free and a lot less gross.
What are HairStixies?
This woman-owned shower and beauty brand accessory looks like a traditional sticky note pad but functions more like a lint roller.
These pads feature adhesive on the front of each HairStixies sheet. As you shower and loose strands of hair fall, you can stick them directly to the adhesive.
Once the top sheet is full of hair, you can easily remove it by pulling on the non-adhesive strip at the bottom. Additional sheets are conveniently available below for the next use.
Bonus: This accessory is renter-friendly!
My HairStixies pro-tips
I find that this pad functions and sticks its best when it's placed in the dryest possible part of your shower. So you're going to want to stick the pad to an area the shower's water stream won't touch.
I also find that when you remove a sheet, you'll want to fold it like a taco. Because my hair is long, it won't all stick to the pad (no matter how small I ball it up) and you won't lose any pieces you mean to discard when you fold it this way.
These sticky pads make a great Christmas or Hanukkah gift!
HairStixies are the perfect solution for catching and disposing of loose hair in the shower.
And because the perfect gift is often something you didn’t know you needed—but now can’t imagine living without—I’m planning to gift these easy-to-use pads to all my long-haired friends.
After all, I know I’m not the only person with long hair dealing with this problem.
HairStixies
This two-pack of HairStixies is an easy way to keep hair out of your shower drain and off your shower wall.
Simply adhere the pad to your dry shower wall and as hair falls, stick it to the pad. Then, remove the sheet with the hairs on it once your shower is over. No more weird little hair balls in your shower!
