The 1 MCU Show To Watch Before Avengers: Doomsday Is Taking Over Disney+ After New Trailer

The only must-watch show before Avengers: Doomsday is dominating Disney+.

A new Avengers: Doomsday trailer was released earlier this week, providing the first look at Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom and getting to hear the voice he is using for the character. The various teams are also shown in the trailer, including the Avengers, the New Avengers, the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, and other key figures like Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Steve Rogers (Chris Evans).

Two days after the trailer's release, Loki is the fifth most-watched show on Disney+ in the United States. The only shows ahead of it are Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro, Bluey Compilations, X-Men '97, and Marvel's Spidey and His Amazing Friends. All of these shows have recently released new episodes on Disney+, except for Bluey. Meanwhile, Loki ended with season 2 in 2023, and in the top 10 is ahead of Lost Treasures of Ancient Greece, King of the Hill, Daredevil: Born Again, Theme Song Takeover, and Star Wars: Maul — Shadow Lord.

As a fan-favorite MCU character whose future has been uncertain since his series ended, there has been a great deal of speculation and intrigue about Loki's return in Avengers: Doomsday. Unlike most of the other confirmed characters, he is not part of the Avengers, New Avenger, Fantastic Four, or X-Men teams. There is expected to be a reunion with Thor, which is complicated by this being a version of Loki that the God of Thunder has never met before.

In the trailer, Loki is seen holding a TVA card with his face on it and staring out of a window. The TVA is established and thoroughly explored in the Loki series, as is his new role in saving and now overseeing the multiverse. Between him being in Avengers: Doomsday, what is shown in the trailer, and the importance of the multiverse in the story, this makes the show important to watch before the movie's release.

Despite the many Marvel Cinematic Universe shows released on Disney+, none of the others seem as important to watch before Avengers: Doomsday. The new Captain America, Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), and Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) have their Falcon and the Winter Soldier show, but they have primarily been movie characters, and the majority of the movie's other confirmed characters are also mostly in the films.

Even with the massive cast of established characters, Marvel has already made an effort to assure fans that they don't need to have watched specific movies or shows before Avengers: Doomsday, including co-director Joe Russo referring to the movie as the beginning of "Phase Zero." Nevertheless, Loki is proving to be a show that many Disney+ subscribers are choosing to watch, even five months before the film hit theaters.

Avengers: Doomsday is likely to include more familiar characters who haven't been confirmed yet, with Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) being a particularly strong possibility. If she is in it, WandaVision may be important to see beforehand, but for now, Loki is the only MCU show that seems like a must-watch before the movie.
