Warning: This article contains MAJOR SPOILERS for Terrifier 3!

While the Terrifier franchise has incorporated Halloween and Christmas into Art’s massacres, Terrifier 3 subtly teases a possible new holiday for the fourth film. The beloved, unrated movie franchise by Damien Leone follows a human serial killer turned demon named Art the Clown, who attacks with little to no provocation in the most brutal and gory ways. While the first two movies showed Art attacking on Halloween, Terrifier 3 shifted to slaughtering people on Christmas with the help of the Terrifier survivor-turned-villain Vicky, who the little pale girl possesses.

Before the third movie released, Leone unofficially confirmed that Terrifier 4 was already in the works, which makes perfect sense after watching the third movie. The third movie ends on a massive cliffhanger, leaving many questions that Terrifier 4 needs to answer. One question – the next holiday on which Art the Clown and Sienna Shaw will return – might have been subtly answered in Terrifier 3, thanks to one detail.

Terrifier 3's Crown Of Thorns Sets Up An Easter Setting For Terrifier 4

The Crown Of Thorns Continues The Religious Imagery in Terrifier 3

The end of Terrifier 3 shows Vicky wearing a crown of thorns, which she takes off her head and pushes down onto Sienna’s head, causing blood to drip down her face. Since every installation of Terrifier has taken place on a holiday, the crown of thorns seems like a tease for the Terrifier 4’s setting.

An Easter setting and release date could negatively impact Terrifier 4 , especially if the movie maintains the same level of gore as the past three movies.

In the Bible, Jesus wore a crown of thorns during his crucifixion, which is memorialized on Good Friday. Then, his resurrection is celebrated two days later on Easter, which could be the next time that Vicky and Art return to the big screen. This would also fit with the other religious themes introduced in Terrifier 3 and those that are found in the Art the Clown short 9th Circle, which is referenced through a book in the third movie.

Damien Leone told Discussing Film that he has a maximum of two more movies planned for the Terrifier franchise.

What Terrifier 4 Taking Place On Easter Would Mean For The Franchise

Terrifier 4 Centering On Easter Could Negatively Impact The Franchise

If Terrifier 4 takes place on Easter, the movie could push the line in the most significant way yet. Terrifier 3’s opening scene already caused mild controversy by showing Art the Clown killing a child and then displaying his dismembered body onscreen, which breaks a horror movie unspoken rule. However, the most this resulted it was viewers throwing up and walking out. There wasn’t any major backlash in sales, ratings, or reviews. Unfortunately, an Easter setting and release date could negatively impact Terrifier 4, especially if the movie maintains the same level of gore as the past three movies.

Terrifier's Art the Clown has an iconic black-and-white appearance, but what does the slasher villain look like underneath the heavy makeup?

Religious horror movies are considered blasphemous to the church and have received significant backlash in the past. Most don’t take place during a sacred holiday, though. Easter is considered one of the most sacred holidays for Christians because it proves Jesus really was the son of their god and cleansed them of their sins. As such, the chances of a boycott or review bombing seem high. The choice would also potentially ostracize Christians who love and watch horror movies. However, the shock marketing of the fourth movie following through on Terrifier 3’s tease could also bring the film more attention.
