Teddi Mellencamp stuns fans as she reveals she had plastic surgery during stage 4 cancer battle

Teddi Mellencamp left fans stunned as she revealed that she underwent a cosmetic procedure amid her stage four cancer battle. 

The 45-year-old TV personality, whose cancer battle journey began in 2022 after being diagnosed with melanoma, took to her Instagram stories on Monday to get candid with her followers about having a blepharoplasty done. 

The surgery is also known as an eyelid lift, and the star reassured her fans that she was cleared by her doctors beforehand. 

Mellencamp explained that her phone had been 'blowing up' after her surgeon Dr. Sarmela Sunder shared behind-the-scenes footage of the procedure to her own Instagram page this week. 

'The things that I can tell you, that I don't need to keep answering, is, of course, it was fine with my cancer doctors, that's why I agreed to do it.' 

The mom-of-three continued, 'I was awake. I get my stitches out Thursday. I have immunotherapy Wednesday.' 

Sunder shared a clip that contained a montage of Mellencamp stopping by for an appointment as the skin around her eyelids was checked. 

The video then jumped to the moment after stitches had been put in. 

'Even though she wanted this procedure for a bit, we wanted to wait until she was medically cleared for it by her oncologists,' Sunder typed out in the caption. 

She added that Mellencamp, 'got the "all-clear" and we were able to perform the procedure under local anesthesia. Just like everything else in her life, Teddi handled it like a true champ.' 

Fans jumped to the comment section to share their thoughts as one penned, 'Her eyes instantly look even brighter.' 

Another wrote, 'So good,' while the star's podcast co-host Tamra Judge added red heart emojis for support. 

The daughter of singer John Mellencamp also wrote on her Instagram stories while sitting inside a car, 'Under Bleph day with the best doctor out there. 

'And yes I got the ok from my cancer doctors,' she concluded while motioning towards her eyelids.

She later could be seen sitting inside the vehicle once again, but with stitches above her eyes. 

Mellencamp additionally gave a shout out to Sunder for being the 'best' doctor. 

The media personality included an image of her eyelids being checked as she penned, 'I hear all of you saying I don't need this... But I want it!' 

And while relaxing in the car following the surgery, Mellencamp showed off a pink ice mask that she donned for the ride home.

Back in 2022, the star previously underwent a neck lift and partial lower face lift surgery, which had also been done by Sunder. 

On Wednesday, Mellencamp took to her Instagram stories again to take followers along as she got immunotherapy and had scans done. 

While waiting for a nurse to pick her up, the star said in a selfie video that she was 'nervous' due to not having scans done in four months.

'So, I'm getting my MRI and my CT scans - or cat scans - I'll never remember the names, no matter how hard I try.'

She added, 'But yeah, that's today. Key to being comfy in treatment: Cozy clothes and a sweater that can pull up over arm so they can easily find your vein. 

'Well, some people can easily find vein,' Mellencamp expressed with a laugh. 

She also shared a video as she awaited the results of her scans before undergoing more immunotherapy treatment. 

'Awaiting results time,' the star wrote. 'Then immunotherapy. This is when I am the most anxious.' 

The next slide was a positive update given by Mellencamp. 

While still in the hospital, she penned, 'All the cancer scans came back good. Immunotherapy time and ice time for blephy [t]oo.'

Back in 2022, she was diagnosed with stage two melanoma and revealed last year that the cancer had reached stage four and metastasized to her lungs and brain. 

But after being given a 50/50 chance of survival, Mellencamp revealed in October 2025 that her cancer is now 'undetectable.'

A few months earlier in August, the star shared that she had nine months of immunotherapy treatments left. 

She also called immunotherapy 'the worst' and was feeling 'sick' at the time as she asked fans to recommend comedies she can watch while recovering.
