Teddi Mellencamp breaks silence on affair that included getaway with married trainer while his wife gave birth

Teddi Mellencamp on Thursday publicly addressed headlines about her alleged cheating on her estranged spouse Edwin Arroyave with her married horse trainer Simon Schroeder.

'What I can say, which I'm trying very … there's multiple sides to every story,' the ex-Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, 43, said on her podcast Two Ts in a Pod with Tamra Judge. 'I'm sure everyone has seen everything all over the World Wide Web.'

Teddi was measured in her words when speaking on the sensitive topic, which comes two weeks after she filed for divorce from Arroyave, 47.

'I'm not going to confirm or deny anything,' the Bloomington, Indiana-born reality star said, adding that 'there's many people involved.'

The Bravo personality and Arroyave are parents to three children - daughter Slate, 12, son Cruz, 10, and daughter Dove, four, and she is stepmother to his daughter from a prior relationship, Isabella, 15.

'I once again, say the same statement I said before - the kids, they're the priority; for the time being that's all I'm going to discuss on this,' Teddi said. 'Small kids are involved, family members - you don't want to throw other people under the bus.

'When it comes to kids and other people's lives that didn't sign up for this or did sign up for this, I got to just take a beat.'

Teddi, whose father is singer-songwriter John Cougar Mellencamp, 73, said she felt she needed to say something in regards to the affair issue to keep things 'moving along' on the podcast.

She said she spoke about it so as not to be peppered with comments calling her 'such a hypocrite.'

Teddi added, 'There's always, in every situation, gonna be somebody who is vocal and someone who is not, and I know in my world of recapping Housewives, I'm pretty vocal.'

Teddi said that while she isn't 'ready to process or talk about or involve the kids in' certain issues centered around the split,' she's 'still here,' 'showing up for work,' and 'doing the best that [she] can.'

Teddi and Schröeder cheated for months amid their respective marriages, and during a timeframe his wife Karli Postel had been expecting - and delivered - their second child, a source told Dailymail.com Wednesday.

'Karli thought it was suspicious that her husband was in Florida when she was giving birth' in California, the insider said.

Postel eventually 'found text messages on Simon’s phone that exposed the affair,' the insider said, and 'confronted Simon and Teddi about it and they confessed,' with Teddi vowing to her 'it would not happen again.'

Teddi spoke about her split in a November 2 Instagram statement

Postel initially 'didn't tell' Arroyave about his spouse's extramarital affair, and 'was willing to give Simon another chance and stayed with him,' the insider said.

Things reached a boiling point in October when Postel 'found proof that the affair was ongoing and that it had become "emotional."

'Simon had a history of cheating and Karli was tired of being connected to him. Edwin only learned of the affair late last month when Karli told him.'

Teddi's timing in filing for divorce at the beginning of the month was a tactical move to stay ahead of the split and control the narrative, according to the source.

'She filed for divorce from Edwin so that he did not have the chance to file and get her for adultery,' the source said. 'It has been alleged that the marriage ended because Edwin cheated on Teddi, but it is actually the other way around.'

Teddi said that she and Arroyave had split after a 13-year marriage a day after she filed divorce documents, listing October 20 as their separation date and irreconcilable differences as the cause.

Mellencamp said via a November 2 Instagram statement, 'After a great deal of care and consideration, I have made the difficult decision to file for divorce. My priority is my children and ensuring that every care is taken with their privacy and wellbeing throughout this new chapter.'

She said that she did not want to make 'a public statement' on the issue, but 'felt being open, honest, and vulnerable is the best path forward' to 'protect [her] family from undue speculation and rumors.'
