Chris is a Senior News Writer for Collider. He can be found in an IMAX screen, with his eyes watering and his ears bleeding for his own pleasure. He joined the news team in 2022 and accidentally fell upwards into a senior position despite his best efforts.

For reasons unknown, he enjoys analyzing box office receipts, giant sharks, and has become known as the go-to man for all things BoschMission: Impossible and Christopher Nolan in Collider's news division. Recently, he found himself yeehawing along to the Dutton saga on the Yellowstone Ranch.

He is proficient in sarcasm, wit, Photoshop and working unfeasibly long hours. Amongst his passions sit the likes of the history of the Walt Disney Company, the construction of theme parks, steam trains and binge-watching Gilmore Girls with a coffee that is just hot enough to scald him.

His obsession with the Apple TV+ series Silo is the subject of mockery within the Senior News channel, where his feelings about Taylor Sheridan's work are enough to make his fellow writers roll their eyes.

For a while, Taylor Sheridan's highly anticipated Dutton Ranch series felt a little bit like a promise fans were just supposed to trust would eventually happen. Everyone knew Beth and Rip were getting their own next chapter, but compared to some of Taylor Sheridan’s other projects, the rollout has been pretty quiet. Now, though, the show has hit a very real milestone.

According to a wrap update shared by Texas-based Legacy Casting and picked up in later coverage, filming on Season 1 of Dutton Ranch has officially wrapped in North Texas. The Beth and Rip-led Yellowstone sequel had been shooting since August 2025, with production spread across Ferris, Boyd, Cleburne, Weatherford, Rio Vista, Fort Worth, and Mineral Wells. That is a big step for a series that Paramount+ still has not given a firm release date, even though multiple recent reports continue to point to a late 2026 premiere window.

The cast is led by Kelly Reilly as Beth Dutton and Cole Hauser as Rip Wheeler, with Finn Little returning as Carter. The growing and star-studded ensemble also includes Annette Bening, Ed Harris, Jai Courtney, Marc Menchaca, Natalie Alyn Lind, Juan Pablo Raba, and J.R. Villarreal.

The Shield premiered on this date in 2002. Even if you never watched it, you might do better on this quiz than you think. The show changed television.

What Is 'Dutton Ranch' About?

The new series picks up after the end of Yellowstone, following Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler as they try to build a life on their own land away from the main ranch. People’s current synopsis says the show centers on the couple living on a 7,000-acre ranch near Dillon, Montana, where they are trying to survive mounting pressure while raising Carter.

A similar logline reported elsewhere describes the show this way: Beth and Rip must fight to survive on their cherished ranch “amid tough times and stiff competition,” while making sure Carter grows into the man he is meant to be.

Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler are grateful for the peace they sought, fought, and nearly died for with their 7,000-acre Dutton Ranch. With tough times and stiff competition, Beth and Rip do what they must to survive, all while ensuring Carter becomes the man he’s supposed to be.”

Dutton Ranch does not have a premiere date yet, but stay tuned to Collider for more information.
