Tasha Ghouri broke down in tears as she admitted last year was the hardest of her life, revealing merciless trolls left her contemplating her TV career.

The former Love Island star, 27, who rose to fame on series eight of the hit ITV show, joined Hits Radio host Fleur East, 38, for an International Women's Day Special on Wednesday, recorded in partnership with The King's Trust.

During the show, Fleur asked Tasha how she has coped with being in the public eye and reading online commentary.

Speaking to Hits Radio's Fleur East, she said: 'It's tough. Last year was actually the hardest year for that. I don't want to get emotional...sorry. It still gets to me.

'I've been three years in the industry, and it still gets to me. I see comments of ableism to this day - I still get that.

'Last year was the hardest, I lost myself completely. I was in the depths, and it got to the point where I stopped loving what I was doing.

'Then to go through such hardship, going through a public breakup - it was tough. I had to really try and find my happiness again, which I have now.

'I've got an amazing partner, Cam, and I truly feel like I'm radiating from inside because I had to go through that battle with trolls online. Kindness is free, and I think people forget that.'

In January last year, Tasha split from her former boyfriend Andrew Le Page, 31, whom she met on Love Island.

Just a month later, the star was forced to take to social media to hit back at trolls after she was accused of 'taking' their dog Luna from Andrew.

Hitting back at the 'horrible comments', the dancer explained at the time Andrew had moved back home to Guernsey, hence she was looking after Luna until he returned to the UK.

Taking to Snapchat, the star responded to a comment which read: 'Really hopes Andrew gets to see Luna too'.

Tasha wrote: 'Since there's so many horrible messages I've got about taking Luna off Andrew – first off, she is our dog who we got together.

'He is in Guernsey & decided to leave Luna here with me as he couldn't take her, it wasn't ideal. When he's found a place back in the UK, we will be working out a way for both of us to see her.'

During the show, the duo discussed the struggles Tasha faced last year while being in the public eye and reading online commentary following her public split from former boyfriend Andrew Le Page

She continued: 'I didn't want to comment on this but when I'm getting messages saying I'm horrible person, scum, etc. I have to put my foot down.'

Addressing the split, she continued: 'No-one knows what went on in our relationship behind closed doors. Don't believe every headline you read in the press.

'Break-ups happen in life. Just because ours is in the 'public eye' doesn't make it any different.'

She concluded: 'Spread kindness - also to Andrew because he's also been getting messages. Thank you. I won't be answering any more on our relationship and Luna.'

Andrew and Tasha, who met on Love Island in 2022, ended their relationship last year after buying their first home together and starting renovations.

The split came as a shock to fans after Andrew was seen supporting Tasha in the audience while she was starring on Strictly at the end of 2024.

Following her split from Andrew, Tasha's mental health spiraled so much she didn't want to leave her bedroom.

The break-up soon turned bitter, with Andrew accusing Tasha of being on celebrity dating app Raya while they were in a relationship.

In a Q and A on Instagram, Tasha revealed she was subjected to horrific abuse from trolls who blamed her for the demise of the romance.

Tasha wrote: 'I was so so anxious to share this, I've experience a lot of horrific trolls in the past year in my messages online and it massively impacted my mental health to the point I didn't want to leave my bedroom.

'I'm getting emotional typing this but this feels like a fresh new beginning and it's the perfect haven to restart.'

Since, the dancer began dating presenter Cam in May last year after splitting from her co-star Andrew.

Tasha was first spotted with the presenter in the audience at a Strictly Come Dancing live show in October, after she previously competed in the BBC competition last year - making it all the way to the final with pro partner Aljaž Škorjanec.

The Daily Mail revealed last year that she was dating Cam, who appears in CBBC series One Zoo Three and BBC show OZT Goes Wild alongside his brothers Ty and Aaron.

Cam, whose family run Hertfordshire Zoo, is the managing director of a non-profit charity, The Big Cat Sanctuary, which rescues wild cats and protects species at risk of extinction.

The Daily Mail understands the new couple have bonded over their love for animals after Tasha rescued her dog, Luna, who she previously shared with ex-boyfriend Andrew, from Spanish charity Alora Dog Rescue and Homeward Bound.

A source said: 'Tasha and Cam are in the early stages of dating. They have been seeing each other for around a month now and share so much in common, from a personal and professional standpoint.

'Cam is a great guy and has a lot going for him, Tasha has definitely been thrilled getting to know him and the feeling is mutual.'
